Mobile August Rain

We’ve been in May & Oct.
October was our favourite time of year (for weather and crowds) but we did have a couple of days spoilt by the rain. One day it was a constant downpour until about 3pm (freak tropical storm for the time of year) the other day it was on and off all day.
I know August is hot and humid, I can cope with that but does it tend to rain all day? a couple of hours in the afternoon? or on and off all day?
How do you manage it? Do you just wright some days off?

End of August makes sense crowd wise and for school holidays but the rain on those couple of days in October really made a miserable day.

Thanks

Hi in reality it’s like weather anywhere just depends on the luck of the draw. Can have some huge storms or not a drop.

End of August is our favourite time to go, weather is hot but we like that! Yes you may get the odd shower but after several visits Including june and October would choose end of August! Having said that we are going mid September this year due to other commitments.
Don’t worry it will be fab.

We went end Aug a few years ago for 3 weeks and had a bit of everything.
First 5 days, not a drop of rain and temperatures over 100F, unbearable. Said never again as it was just so hot.
Then the daily rain started, half hour downpours usually mid afternoon, much more bearable temperatures and all it really spoilt was the short time when you have to get out of pool for lightening in the area. Nothing to worry about as it’s so short.
Then we got a hurricane which was a few days of unsettled weather, while the parks were still open they were super quiet, so hit somewhere like Magic Kingdom with lots of indoor rides and it’s great for getting things done.

Generally the norm is a 20 min downpour in the afternoons. Obviously you will get days when there are no showers, and others where it’s longer.

Take shoes that dry quickly and a rain poncho and you’ll be fine don’t wear trainers since they take forever to dry out when they get soaked. The forecasts are very accurate over there so take their advice about predicted rainy sessions. Everything soon reopens once the rain passes.

Hi there, From our experience last year it pretty much rained every day from around 12:00 to 3 pm every day. It didn’t really effect our holiday as you know it could happen so you just plan for it. Like try and book a meal for that time or plan a swim back at the resort but be careful they can close the pool if there is lightning in the area.

We have been 8 times in August.

I can only recall two days where it rained before 12pm, hurricane related, one time we did Mall and Cinema for a rest day, the other we went to Universal, where everything was a walk on - the staff were even taking it in turns to ride...and rain stopped by 11am.

We bought ponchos on our first visit... they always come with us and have been used once!

The pattern normally is a 20-30 min shower mid afternoon, and we usually wait it out, often meaning a slightly quiter park, and fresher less humid weather.

in my experience of 3 August visits, it will daily...

a/ stay v.hot dry humid
b/ pee down biblically for about 30 mins then all good again
c/ start peeing down biblically and not stop that day

luck of the draw really cant really say it will rain at x o 'clock daily? it is also very localised ie/ rain in MK fine at universal for instance

option c/ usually pretty much a show stopper

It is very humid which does sap energy, especially of little ones.

The showers are usually short, though not always.

But my tip is to use them and plan around them.

If you are at a water park and a storm comes over at 3 or 4pm, stick it out as many don't. An hour later and the place is half full.

If you are in a theme park, plan to be in a show, maybe even try to get a fp for one that is around 3 or 4pm. It doesn't always work, but you can give yourself a high five when you do this, walk in as it starts to rain and then walk out with the clouds clearing - which works out quite often.
