Can you still book seats for free 72 hours before virgin flight

Hi,

We are flying with virgin economy light. Is it still possible for us to check in and pick seats 72hs before the flight if we are flying club members.

You only can select seats for free in economy light if you are gold or silver FC members.

Silver members can only select a seat for free for themselves.

Gold members can select seats for the travelling party.

Check in doesn't open until 24 hours before departure for everyone

I flew Economy Light in November and I don't if this is usual but when I went to online check in at T-24 hours I had already been placed in a seat and there was only about 2 open seats to choose from if I wanted to move.

That’s true but it used to be the case that all VA Flying club members could book seats for free 72 hours before their flight. This wasn’t checking in, just booking seats. Looks like they’ve changed that now and you have to be a Silver member to get the privilege. Personally I would generally book Economy Classic anyway, which includes free seat booking,it won’t matter to me.

True, but not surprising, since you can join flying club without even having taken one flight with them yet - it always seemed strange to me that they offered any privileges at that stage. With the new seat pricing it’s less relevant anyway now, as Economy classic gets you free seat bookings as soon as you book regardless of FC membership.
