It looks like you had a brilliant time Geoff.
Well it's cheaper than the Disney parks!
Great trip report. I used to love the bob sleds. I first went with my parents in the 80's. My dad and his friend used to regularly win tickets for a car full of people. I have fond memories of 7 of us squeezed in an estate car with a dog!

We spent 2 days at Alton Towers on 30 and 31 July and it was one of the quietest times in the park I have known. A 15 min wait for Nemesis mid afternoon is a real bonus but unfortunately not for me. We had early ride time due to having Merlin AP's, and first ride of the Monday morning on Rita, my back went into spasm. I had to spend the whole 2 days hobbling round the park, watching DH and DS have a whale of a time. As a ride junkie, a theme park is the worst place on earth when you're not fit to ride, especially when the queues are so short

Oh no, what a shame about your back!

We are off there tomorrow for a couple of nights, staying at Splash Landings. I'm expecting it to be heaving, but secretly hoping it won't be. We have the extra hour on two mornings so should get a couple of big rides done during that time, but I have budgeted for a couple of £10 Fast Track tickets if need be.

We are going to the water park tomorrow afternoon, I think I need to manage the boys' expectations a little, they are thinking it's going to be like being back at Typhoon Lagoon

We were at Towers last week and the river is still running red (so they must of bought plenty of die this time).
As for Rita is was late opening again and they have now screened off the area were the cable goes and put a sort of tunnel walkway in with scaffold poles and boards so you can get to queue and thirteen.
