Advantage Car Hire - cheap!

Hi, has anyone used them?

They are £272 for 2 weeks with an intermediate SUV next March compared to my go-to car hire company Alamo who are quoting £477.

A £200 saving is enough to lure me away from Alamo and skip the counter.

For a while reviews are mixed but er on the poor side.
The insurance included or not in some advertised prices is a possible concern.
You have to do due diligence on super cheap quote from a non top player .
This doesn't mean it's not good and everything could well be ok.
As always with everything buyer beware.

Cheers guys.

There are mixed reviews, the negative reviews mainly seem to relate to insurance, fuel charges, extra drivers and toll charges.

One renter complained the transponder was switched on and he was charged despite paying cash, I'm surprised they aren't using number plate recognition.

So the bottom line. Are you going with them?
No such thing as a free lunch

Insurance is the biggie just make sure your covered it is so important.
If savings are 200 quid and unsure on insurance take out a UK policy to be safe plenty at around 100 odd quid mark you just do some work yourself in case of claims.
Enjoy which ever route you decide on.

I've booked with the option to cancel up to 48 hours before the date of the rental, so I'll be keeping an eye on other prices.

Their cover includes:

Theft Waiver
Basic Third Party Liability Protection
Vehicle Rental
Rate Distance Unlimited
Airport Service Charge
VAT
Taxes And Surcharges
Note: There is 0 excess liability on your rental.

Basic third party liability protection sounds a worry, you need SLA.

That's the question, is basic third party liability protection the same as SLI? if it is not the same cover then I'll go elsewhere.

The third party cover in Florida is $10,000. so you are responsible for all damage and personal injury above that. Given that the USA is very litigious this is not enough.

The rate you are looking at is for US drivers whose CC or auto insurance gives more cover.
Not for ME!
