Today is a sad day as it has been announced that my local Disney Store is closing down at the end of the month. So I shall cheer myself by going to Boston.
It's no wonder The Queen passes on the Disney part of your trips. Two hours to get ready!? Doesn't she know about rope drop!? I know nothing about ice-skating other than what I have seen on Dancing on Ice (I am so excited that is coming back) and the Disney movie Ice Princess (I love this!) but I really enjoyed reading about the skating. Those Beatles costumes were inspired. I liked the French ones too, particularly the girl's. Hope you're all well xxx |

Hmm...does "Think of all the money you'll save by not popping in there..." help? No? And OH, MY FRIEND...rest assured The Queen knows about rope-drop. That's her alarm in the room next door to you going off at 4:30! Why do you think I'm such a scruff as an adult? Because I had to sleep on CURLERS until I was ten! Lol...I am SUCH a disappointment to my mother. I love figure skating - but the one time I tried to watch "Dancing on Ice" the contestant I tuned in for was VANILLA ICE. Skating to "Ice, Ice, Baby". And I can never un-see that. My best girlfriend's favourite guilty pleasure film is "The Cutting Edge" - - and I won't lie, I watched it all the way through... AND my maternal uncle has a very, very, very tiny part in... ...so I quite like that one, too. R.C. can have the French films about suicide and incest - give me a Hallmark movie EVERY TIME! |

Cutting Edge is on my 'to watch' list. I think there's four of them in total now!
Dancing on Ice really was great fun. We were stranded in London during the ash cloud fiasco and we ended up going to see the tour at the O2, we loved it. Definitely watch when it returns! The professional skaters are very talented and it's amazing seeing how Torvill and Dean still 'have it'. |

WHAT?! It's a FRANCHISE?!
OK...back now. You are right - FOUR FILMS. I figured they'd be on Amazon Prime Video for free - but no. And I'm not sure I'd PAY to watch those...hmm. You were an ash-cloud strandee? I think London was probably one of the best places to get stranded - though WDW probably just pipped it. And you know I trust your judgement, Colette...but my problem with "Dancing on Ice" and shows like it? I don't know who any of the "celebrities" are! I do like to watch Torvill and Dean, though, lol. I'm so sorry to hear about Poot's health issues before your holiday (and I'm pleased he recovered quickly!) It makes planning so much harder when you have 'real life' issues to deal with before a trip. Au Bon pain sounds like a great stop for a quick bite (have popped this on my list). The whole 'hands over your head' body scan seems a bit excessive 😱 however if they think this will keep you safer I suppose you just have to suck it up (as we say in oz 🤣 I have no idea about ice/figure skating but I do love a sparkly costume, again, how lovely for you and your Mum to make these wonderful memories. The boys had an amazing day, well done to Poot for his trip report, it is very detailed! The meteorite's look spectacular too - the Natural History Museum is also on our list 😊 Another fab day! Thanks for sticking with us, Michelle! I will pass on your kind words to Poot.
If you are coffee drinkers - I think ABP does a refillable mug-jobber thing that I KNOW I read about in a Dibb trippie...hmm...I'll be right back! https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...po st12483489 It's that one. And yes - Poot's health issue was scary. We were told (at the GP) that it was nothing, just a hemangioma - but I just *KNEW* that wasn't right. I take the mickey out of R.C. - but God bless him - he believed me and we went to see a specialist (privately) up at the Portland. And it turned out that Poot had a rare tumour (rare in kids) called a schwannoma - luckily his was benign. Scary though, because when you Google it the first site that comes up is cancerresearch.uk. But in the two months or so from seeing the GP to having it removed, it had grown quite...substantially. It looked like a DOOR KNOB sticking out of Poot's side. Poor kid! Poot and R.C. loved Harvard - they were in nerdvana there, I think. Feel free to skip the skating if it doesn't ring your bell, you won't hurt my feelings at all. I know everybody comes for the Poot reports anyway. |

You have to trust your instincts and no one knows your baby better than you! Well done you for sticking to your guns and going forward with further tests (I have been fobbed off before, only to have my fears realised. Never again)
I am enjoying the skate parts of the report but I don't know who anyone is 😬 I am thinking of these parts as being educational! Poot is adorable- I love how frank 9 year olds can be 😂 Michelle x |

I think my favourite (though it was a bit frightening) part of Poot's report was when he said that DH "forgets things" like his shellfish allergy! HOW?!
And it's all too easy to allow oneself to be fobbed off, I think. Not to get all "SMASH THE PATRIARCHY!" here - but I really resent having to channel Hillary Clinton (is that good code?) - in order to get adequate care for myself or my kid. I want to have a good relationship with the GP - but what can you do when he says "How would YOU know? Are YOU a doctor?" I did enjoy saying "yes" - even if I had to follow it up with "but not a medical doctor". |

Oooohhh Dr April - I love it! What I would have given to see the look on his face when you said that. Take that Dr Smarty Pants - I hope that made him think, if only even for a moment. Mums are awesome and have instincts for a reason! 😊

Yes, I'm an historian by training. I should have listened to my teachers and become a research chemist. Too late now, I fear!
I wrote about this somewhere in this trippie - but I always found the humanities so ROMANTIC. But romance doesn't pay the rent. And I used to roll my eyes at the idea of "mother's intuition" - until I had it. There are capabilities in our brains that we still don't understand - but I believe we one day will. PS: I call that doctor "Dr. A$$". I'm pure class - no wonder DH fell for me. |
