Putting it out into the Universe...

Hello Dibbers!

So this is a weird one. Bare with me will try and keep to a short version of how I have landed on this site today.

So I went to DW three times as a kid (I'm now 30) and became somewhat obsessed.

I lurked on this site for many years, pouring over every single detail of your trip reports, analysing every single park statistic. All I did in my free time was watch park videos (cry) read planning books (cry) and just generally obsess (and cry)

In 2014 I was finally able to go back there with my (now ex) partner. Due to an unfortunate incident I ended up with some compensation that went a little towards the cost. It was a long road to get there with him needing a Visa, and so much extra saving to do, but I did it. It should have been the holiday of a lifetime. But sadly that relationship was already on it's way out and so it wasn't.

When I came home from Florida, and my ten year relationship inevitably ended a few months later, I couldn't stand to click on this website, or look at anything Florida related, or even hear the word DISNEY.
That was four years ago, and today is the first day I am clicking back on the Dibb, and getting the guts to write a post.

I have no Florida holiday planned. It's unlikely I'll be able to afford a Florida holiday any time soon, but moping about it doesn't help does it! Instead I'm putting myself out there, ready to nerd up about Disney again! I am so out of the loop.

If I am able to go back in the near future, it will be with my now partner, who isn't from the UK so I'll have to go through the Visa drama AGAIN! Although I'm hoping that it will much easier than last time as he isn't a criminal, he's just not British! Or I will go alone. I've not quite convinced him that he can last an 8 hour flight without cigarettes yet. The thought of going alone is slightly terrifying and a little bit lonely, but also pretty flipping liberating. After the disaster that was my 2014 trip, being able to do what I wanted on my holiday would be quite a joy.

Anyway, that's me, now I'm off to see if I'm emotionally ready to read Trip Reports. Bracing myself!

Nice to be back x

Ah l feel you. I am 41 and Disney obsessed and have had two trips to Florida that have not had great circumstances around them. The first was about 20 years ago with my first love who l discovered was cheating on me just before we went. The sad shame is that l didn't realise until it started to dawn on me, the night before my first ever trip to florida! So as my relationship was breaking down on holiday it wasn't great, though l did fall in love with Disney despite him 😁 The second trip was in 2015 and was to be the first time ever for DH, son age 8 and daughter age 7 at the time. I spent two years planning it, with a big surprise reveal planned for the kids about 5 weeks before we due to go. Sadly my son broke his arm quite badly about 6 weeks before we were due to fly and needed it all pinning! So we couldn't do the reveal as we really didn't know if we could even go till about 1 week before. It really upset me and meant we didn't bother with any of the waterparks we had planned and the reveal ended up being a rush job a couple of days before we went with lots of tears from me. Nonetheless we were happy to be going and the first day was magical, until DD took ill on the first night and ended up hospitalised for 3 days. My lord she's never been so ill, she had a 40+ temp and all her joints swelled up and she couldnt walk or put weight on her legs, for the the whole time she was there! We were in and out of the hospital for tests. We never found out what it was and I'm happy to say she began to recover once we were home but OMG... Not quite the amazing family holiday l had dreamed about for two years, my sons broken arm was the least of my worries! I must admit l have wondered if my trips to Florida are jinxed, but nonetheless l am still in love with it all & still dibbing and dreaming about the day we will all go back. Just need to get another job first then l can save 😁
