Howe long are extra morning hours
Hi Guys, how long are EMH. If a park opens at 9am, what time can I get there as staying on site, is it about an hour, so get there at 8am? what about on an evening is that an hour or so too.
Never stayed on site before so just getting my head around these perks and really cant wait

Morning EMH is 1 hour before opening. Each park has slightly different opening procedures but at MK on a 9am regular open, you'll be allowed onto Main Street at around 7:45 and then into Fantasyland/Tomorrowland from 8am. So I'd get to any of the parks around 7:30 ready for 8am, especially if you're planning to rope drop any rides. Probably earlier at AK at the moment!
Evening EMH is 2 hours after closing. I think this is only offered at MK and Epcot now, definitely not at HS any more and AK only had it as a limited time option for Pandora's opening. Edited at 04:51 PM. |

We found EMH in the evening was a waste of time on a busy day as people who were in the queue when at the official closing time (quite rightly) are still there

We found EMH in the morning at Magic Kingdom a complete waste of time, we got there at 7.55am went straight to Space Mountain and it was a 50 minute wait. Went round to Tomorrowland Speedway, 30 minutes. Adventureland was closed until 9am, so we only went on the small rides which don't have big lines anyway.
Around 9.30am we went back to Space Mountain and it was 10 minutes, we could have just strolled in at 9am and done what we wanted. |

Thanks everyone for your replies, this is all great info to help with the planning. A 50 min wait right on opening is a total joke though

This isn't normal according to various wait time trackers. The observed wait time for SM in EMH yesterday was under 10 minutes, rising to 20 minutes at standard open. The peak wait time was 80 minutes at just after 11am, with an observed moderate (6/10) crowd level.
If I was to guess, I would say the ride was down during EMH on the morning that poster went but they hadn't closed the queue. |

Just incase you didnt know, not all parks have EMH on all days.
Check the park hours page on here (by clicking 'Florida Park Hours') on the dibb menu on the left hand side and this will tell you which parks have EMH on which days and the times

Even on an morning EMH you need to be there a good half hour BEFORE the start time to stand a chance of getting on things. There are 30,843 rooms at Disney. Let's say there is an average of 3 people per room. That's 91,529 people! Again for argument divide by 6 parks - that's 15,254. Allowing for those who lie in or want a later start or go elsewhere you could effectively be up against 8,000 to 10,000 other guests. Often that's not the case.
Not WDW I know but at DLP's Walt Disney Studios during "Extra Magic Time" as they call it 90% of park guests head for Crush's Coaster. This means that within 20 minutes of it opening it often reaches a 50 minute / 1 hour wait. So by the time the park opens to the off site public they don't stand a chance of getting on it.
