A few FastPass+ questions!

So our 60 day mark is next week and I've been doing a bit of research about how it all works but am curious about a few things and would appreciate your help!

1) I understand we can only initially book 3 FPs in one park, but can these FPs be split across different rides? So, for example, if (as our party of five), persons A, B and C wish to ride Seven Dwarfs, but persons D and E would rather go off and do Space Mountain, is it possible to book these separately and still have two remaining FPs that we could all use together on two other rides? In simpler terms, is it three FPs per person, or three FPs per group?

2) If that is possible - then do the tiering/no park-hopping rules still apply? I.e. could three of us use a FP on Soarin' whilst the other two are over at FoP?

3) We're going to be at Epcot for NYE! Would you recommend using a FP for the 11:40 Illuminations? Is this possible and is the view good? Can one of our party hold the spot or must we all remain there until the show begins?

I can answer the 1st question for you for 100% definate. Yes you can split the group in anyway you want. When you are booking the fastpass it lets you tick who you are booking the fastpass for. It will let you book 3 per person. Theoretically you could be 3 people with 3 entirely different fastpasses booked.

I am only 99% sure but as far as I am aware the park hopping rule still applies as you have to select the park first before you select the people. You could do 2 different tier 1 rides in the same park (one of you could be on FOP and the others could be on Navi River) but would have to be in the same park. You could also only book as many tier 1 rides as there are people.

Not sure about your final question - I have never been to Epcot on NYE
