Why have MK Hours extended in November?

Made plans and reservations based on MK closing at 9pm on non MVMCP dates from 6th November but noticed some sites now have closing at 11pm and the projection show on at 9:45. Is this right? Just wondering why schedules have changed and the impact this will have on crowds

Disney always release a conservative set of hours and then extend them nearer the time. It happens for every month about a month before.

This is why you can check the hours for the previous years on theDIBB Park Hours. You can then tell what to expect when they change them.

Take May 2018 for instance. Disney have just released those hours and MK shuts at 9pm. Looking back it normally shuts at 10pm. Some years as late as 12 midnight. So you know nearer the time that is what the hours will be once they have changed them. I would say it will be changed to 10pm in about March or April next year.

I noticed today it's opening earlier in November as well, originally said 9am opening for Magic Kingsom so we booked an ADR for 8.20am, now opens at 8am and we don't want to waste the first hour sat inside eating so need to try and change it now!

I think the early opening is unusual and only done at this time of year - happened when were there last Nov.

I might be wrong about this but my recollection is the changes were much shorter notice - I’m sure they were changing while we were there. We were in MK at 7AM one morning and few other people arrived before 9. I guess they didn’t know (or didn’t want to get up early).

Typically they only extend the hours if they're expecting large enough crowds to make it financially worthwhile keeping everything running longer. Hence starting with shorter hours and changing them about a month before, as Simon already mentioned.

I would expect larger crowds whenever the hours are longer. Not because they are longer though, it's the other way around.

And Because they know it’s going to be busy. You have the marathon during that period , food and wine, crossover from Halloween to Christmas , the abc Christmas Day filming in mk, jersey week . Most Disney hotels are booked up if you look and try and get a reservation. It is not a quiet time to go.
And the clocks go back the day before don’t forget that in your plans .

Yeah I noticed the hours had changed. I got a FP for 7dwarfs Mine train thanks to the extended hours!

Me three 😁 although had adr for BOG at 8.10am so looking to change it now as don't want to be sat inside as soon as we arrive on our first morning at mk I want to go and play 😎
