My knees have totally had it after years of being on my feet daily. I am afraid I resort to analgesia, two long acting Nurofen morning and evening and paracetomol 4hrly, bolstered by non-smelly joint rub and cups of ice from the QS tills. I can usually last from rope drop until 4pm then it is walks interspersed by tea whilst DH does all the rides I don't like!
I do buy the Reebock fitness walking trainers designed for marathon type walks which are very supportive. Hope you find a solution. |

I went on the big family holiday last year with a badly damaged ligament so would have struggled to take it easy.
My physio talked through a typical day and told me to do the following: Wear proper shoes - for me that's high sided trainers - all the time. In the park take every opportunity to take the weight off, sit down, lean against something. As soon as you get back from the parks, spend at least 20 minutes sitting with your feet properly elevated. ideally ice the affected area. Don't try and push through on one day if you know you've got a long day following. We did Legoland the day after Epcot and I was suffering just on the long walk from the car park. I rented a scooter. What a difference it made. Good luck |

Try on some Sketchers Go Walks, you can get some nicer styles than the plain black ones now. They do memory foam trainers which help with cushioning.
Other than that have regular breaks sitting down for a coffee etc, and do a more restful water park day after a couple of walking heavy day's |

My knees were really bad on our last trip (combination of arthritis and injury). I had no trouble walking long distances at home, averaging over 20,000 steps a day with the aid of a stick when necessary, so wasn't particularly worried about the parks. To be honest it's sitting that hurts me so paid for PE to allow me to stretch and manipulate my knees.
I didn't want to wear my knee supports (white knees! ) and couldn't use my strong creams (not to be used in the sun). I only had real problems on the first day when my son phoned to say they had arrived at Tampa early and we had to leave Epcot to meet him at the villa. The walk from the back of Epcot to the car took about 45 mins at a fast pace and nearly killed me. I had a properly sized walking stick that folded into 5 pieces and fitted in my handbag - that came out on that first day. Every other day we walked at my pace, I sat down regularly and did the exercises the physio advised whenever we were in a queue. |

We are relatively fit as a family and we averaged 25000 steps a day in the parks and as the days go on it really does start to take it's toll but also you have the heat and humidity to contend with too which adds miles in itself.
You need really good shoes as your feet also take a hammering and ideally plenty of rests in the Aircon. Take in shows or longer sit down rides to take some of the strain. MK is a killer for us as there is lots of queuing here and if offsite it can take an age just getting back to the car park with an long time standing waiting for transport if you stay to watch the fireworks etc. |

My knees are pretty wrecked . I've had a reconstruction and a couple of other ops. If I crouch down a get back up (which is difficult) they make a sound like someone scrunching up paper .
I just rest as often as I can, don't walk around for the sake of it, avoid Epcot and take pain killers pre-emptively. Sometimes NSAID gel helps me... sometimes it doesn't... I have considered getting a foldable cane but vanity stops me... for now, at least. You could consider approaching your GP to see if you could get some steroid injections.

Thankfully I have had both my knees operated on so they aren't the problem. I have diabetes Type 2 and if I am on my feet for long periods then I suffer. Ankles swell, skin feels tight. Arteries bulge.
Recently was at DLP averaging between 8 to 12 miles a day. I suffered for it and would take afternoon rests, bathe feet etc to try and help with situation. |

I have arthritis in both knees and have been told they will need replacing sometime. I use a walking stick in the Parks and on transport as standing on moving buses is difficult and I wear Go Walks for comfort. I do plan carefully and rest as much as possible in the Parks, I don't go beyond my acceptable discomfort level and leave when I have had enough. The old GAC pass was a godsend but I am not bad enough to have a disability badge so I do miss it but can understand why it was withdrawn. I would recommend not trying to do a full day in a Park if possible, I find a morning then afternoon rest before going out again in the evening is my best strategy.

I have arthritis in both knees one very badly & struggle after about 10 mins. Make sure that you gave a good liking stick. I feel lost without mine. We bought a mobility scooter from Lloyds Chemist. It cost £399 it is lightweight & foldable. We have taken it to Florida twice. It is cheaper than hiring one & you have it to take as far as the aeroplane.
