Buying Universal Tickets + express?

Quite a simple question I think but I can’t find the information anywhere!

We only have a limited time of 3 days to visit Universal next July so we are considering getting the express passes I can see this is ridiculously expensive but not sure how much and how I go about getting the express passes? Will the express last for the 3 days or do I need to pay for each day?

If anyone can give me some insight I would really appreciate it

Many thanks

You pay per day, per park, per person and it soon adds up! A cheaper option is to book 1 night at one of the deluxe Universal hotels (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, Portifino) which will get you 2 days worth of unlimited express passes for everyone in your room (max of 5 in a standard room). You get them for the whole of check in (you can check in first thing to maximise time) and check out day. If you're driving, you'll only pay for 1 night's parking at the hotel too, rather than 2 days at the parks. If you're planning 3 days at Universal, you'll get loads done with the express passes for 2 days, that you won't really need them for a third day.

I’ve heard of people doing the one night stay but never quite understood it

We will be staying at the BC, so if I have understood it correctly we would need to travel to Universal Hotel and check in before going to the park (how early can/should we aim to do this). Then all day in one park.

Second day, check out, spend all day in the 2nd park then return to Disney BC.

Third day possibly no need to return to Universal?

Have I got it somewhere near correct?

Yes, that's right. Lots of us do it and it works brilliantly! You can check in really early - I'm sure I've read about people getting there for around 6.30am so they could make use of the extra morning hour for onsite guests too. Check out the following day, and enjoy the park before heading back to the BC. With the express passes, we find 2 days enough. Just pack an overnight bag and enjoy the mini break at Universal
