La Palma
We have had a couple of holidays on this beautiful island and during all my current family drama and excitement of Florida re-opening the fact the volcano is now active again has been on the peripheral of my attention. However I have just seen Tui is stopping flights there so I'm guessing it's getting lively.
I remember hearing that if this volcano really goes the resulting tsunami could affect the USA. Yet I can find very little information on line about it. |

Yes, if the volcano went in one huge eruption, instead of the frequent, smaller ones there are now - modellers (and we all know about them) have predicted that it would spilt the small island and the huge part that calves off would cause a huge tsunami all across the Atlantic, building in intensity (with no land mass in the way) until it hit the East Coast of the USA.
It would be so large as to wipe out a huge part of that coast. But then, it’s like the predictions for Yellowstone, with it being a super volcano - if that erupts, the whole world would be affected apparently. In our lifetime? Probably not, but who really knows?

What has surprised me, although I am no expert, is the duration of the eruption. It seems to be relentless.
Very sad for those nearby, and a worry for those in the firing line, so to speak. Disney332

We ate supposed to be stopping off there on a cruise in November, but I'm not sure where we will go instead, poor people who live there,
