Thank you. Was told it's a week job, some excavation /digging back of raised lawn and he was talking about bringing in a mini digger. 16m long 75cm high wall to hold back lawn. Would need to be wheelbarrows in and out.

I had one quote at 4.75 (said he could do it next week and I hadn't seen his work) one at just over 6 but he has done several houses in the road they all look good and he is a local contractor of over 20 years could poss do end august and one of 8 using is it bradstone but not til oct?

I just want sure why the prices would be so different so wondered if it was to do with the stone quality or if I was being taken for a mug on something. Or maybe just not comparing apples and pears.

The 6k one was the one talking about weepholes the first didn't expressly say anything about drainage and the third one said grills at the base of the wall. Stumped.

OP. My Bricklayer Mate charges £250 per day. That's to me, I think he charges more to others.

They are getting married in sept with nobody at their wedding, then another wedding in May for us all. Returning to the U.K. in June which will be lovely. The garden won’t be very big anymore but I can live with that.

The grouting needs redoing as well, it cracked and crumbled, (I think when pressure washing to try and get rid ofthe black spot!) 😫

Louise. Do the bleach trick. Then take stock of where you are.

I suspect you will need to spend hours scraping the pointing out and then I have an answer of what you can brush in.

Edit. I have seen pointing 100 times worse than that.

Well I have hours on my hands so might just do that! Thanks Mr T.

It should do. The trick is to get it laid, then seal it ASAP.

I go back to the beginning though. It may look nice but it’s high maintenance sadly.

This is what we have. As mentioned it gets slippy when wet, and picks up grime. Our garden is east facing and had a terrible time keeping cast concrete paving clean with algae. This cleans up easily.
