Our cancelled holiday has been spent on redecorating the lounge and hallway, new sofas, new lounge furniture, curtains and new tv and surround sound system.

We've done exactly this. We had a door from kitchen to garage so turned the back half into a utility room.

UPDATE UPDATE.

The builder duly arrived at 0830 on Monday and the day was then spent bringing in Blocks, Plaster, Cement, Sand, Damp Course, Wall ties etc .

Tuesday I have been at work. I came home to find this early progress!

Pretty good I guess, to my untrained eye. Garage door out tomorrow!

I don’t think they meant ceiling tiles, just sorting the ceiling out like re-plastering?

Looking good, they’ve done quite a lot in only 2 days

CFB. Nice blockwork. Is the brickie putting a pier in the middle?

The run is just over 14 feet. He has laid a damp course as he has not physically seen a membrane. He is using metal ties at both ends .. on every mortice layer. No pier, though.

Tomorrow it is the garage door coming off and hopefully laying up to window sill level.. plus an exploration through the kitchen wall in order to establish levels.

Block work does look good.

Interestingly, the builder says that to the side of the garage is sufficient room to build a house. Whilst I currently have no intention of moving and no intention of giving up land (even for profit). It might be an option should we ever sell... build it or obtain planning permission prior to sale.
