British airways - September trip

Hey everyone

We currently have a trip booked with BA (Miami/Vegas) flying from Heathrow to Miami on 1st September.

We got an email today to remind us to pay our balance before 11th August.

We obviously don’t want to pay the balance or go on the trip now. We were hoping the trip would be cancelled by now so we can get our deposit back.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? We are worried we pay the balance and the flight goes ahead and we only receive a voucher instead of a full refund.

There are already quite a few posts about this. We were in a similar boat in July - the flight we were booked on to Miami left and therefore we would have lost our money if we hadn't moved the dates. If your 1st Sept Miami flight hasn't yet been cancelled I'd recommend you assume it isn't going to be. As BA have extended 'Book with Confidence', you need to call them and either change the date or request a refund/voucher.

We were in the same position last week. Our flight to Boston was due to depart 26th August and was still scheduled. We received our balance reminder At the beginning of last week. I phoned to ask what our options were and was told to phone back tomorrow as that would be 3 weeks before the flight and if FCO guidance was still in place I would be entitled to a full refund. As it happens, we then received an email last Friday to tell us our flight was cancelled.
