Mobile Hanoi to Ha Long Bay

Going to Vietnam in March, arriving into Hanoi airport and need to transfer straight to Ha Long Bay. Has anyone been before and have any recommendations for transfers between the two? We'll have at least 3 large bags so transport needs to have room for those. Also, would it be best to book a transfer in advance or is it easy enough to get something when you arrive at the airport?

Are you going on a Halong bay cruise ? Our cruise company arranged a transfer and it was very good . I would say if you are going straight from airport , I would pre book a transfer although you can get bus from the station . It is about 3 hrs drive .
This may help

We're not going on a cruise, just planning on staying in the bay.

I'll take a look at the link, thanks.

No cruise? Are you planning on exploring more of Vietnam. If so, word of warning that the trains may stop running on 1st March

Thanks for this. We're still not planning on a cruise but are hoping to stay in Ha Long Bay. Going in a couple of weeks so just keeping an eye on the situation.

Have you seen that Vietnam has cancelled the visa waiver scheme for Uk passport holders? We are supposed to be going in April but now we need a visa.

Yeah, we saw that today. Sounds like it's a fairly simple process to complete online.
