I actually don't think the scent sticks hold their scent for more than a week.. You're idea is good although I buy the small Christmas oils from M&S and put a few drops of that each morning on a few branches and that does the trick

We've had a fake one for years now
We used to buy a real one but the mess getting it in and out was awful and it was amazing how long after I used to find the needles.

Fake and years old !
I love real trees but for the environmental issue like to see them in the ground , I find it sad to see real trees fly tipped in lanes by us and looking sad at the tip ..just after Christmas

After the fiasco of my terrible purchase of the most shocking balsam hill tree I'll stick to a real one. Had a mix of fake and real over the years but still prefer real. Going to a grower this year to choose it from the field.

When did you finally take yours down this year?
I'm glad you asked that!

Ours is fake. We used to have a real tree, but the only place it can go is in our living room, and us having our fire going full pelt was killing it off. We're looking to move next year, so depending on the layout we may be able to revert to a real tree after that
