Oh thats good you are aware... it sounds like you are doing all the right things and hope you get sorted. I give my bestie a piriton tablet every day, thats maybe something to consider. If you are on FB theres a page called WAG it's westie advice group, I know you have a spaniel but they offer some great advice!

I've tried a regular antihistamine that worked in the short term. The vet also went thro possible seasonal allergens. Hes had a ear problem a long time but the paw biting bum shuffling red chest etc started in November. The only thing I can connect that to is turning up the central heating? Dust mites being stirred up.

I don’t know if your said vet it to you, but our vet said Willow’s diet needs to be really strict, so she’s allowed her lamb food and 100% lamb treats (dried lung, dried heart and tripe sticks) and nothing else. None of the spaniels are happy as they usually get to share my toast crusts and have a carrot on a Sunday afternoon, but that’s on hold.

Oh bless him, it’s so hard, and they don’t understand why we’re doing it. Hopefully this will sort out both Bill and Willow

Ahh thankyou. Hes really good the tablets have made a massive difference so far. Hes now on the maintenance dose of 8mgs apoquel. He is now completely grain and hypo allergenic fed. The new vets are fantastic. Rang up today to get a rpt script and the lady taking the call was genuinely interested how he was. We have to go back for review in 3m. I might ask about a trial off the tablets to see if the diet has helped. The trouble with doing the two together I cant tell what's helped the most. Will see what the vet advises. The difference in his hearing is amazing. Hes turned into a proper little guard dog. Thanks for asking x
