The Summer 2012 trip - better late than never! Day 12

Trip Index here.

Day 12 - 06/08/12

I wake up, still not feeling great, but thankfully there was some improvement on yesterday.

A light breakfast of fruit salad, then we head out to the pool. I sit there for an hour or so with my Kindle, then get hot and bothered so head back inside to the air conditioning. Thoughts turn towards packing. We have not been here long enough to think about going home. Although we're not going straight home, we leave tomorrow for 3 nights on the coast. At this precise moment though, I'm not too keen on packing up and moving elsewhere - you get that sinking feeling twice, although I may feel differently when we actually get to the coast.

While the others are still by the pool, I start the packing. Most things were washed and dried yesterday, so everything's clean. We've also got a washer and drier at our condo on the beach, so can do any odd bits there too.

Showers and a bit more packing later, we leave the villa at 5pm to go out for something to eat. Somehow we've missed lunch completely. We call in at Devenney's by Highgate at the start of the 27.

Two x Fish & chips, a steak and Guinness pie and a burger later and we're full.

We head over to Seaworld to catch the evening shows we missed. As we get there, it starts to rain, but luckily is quite light. We go to the 7:30 pm showing of the Sealion show – it’s changed since last year and is even better in our opinion. We laugh all the way through it.

We then head straight to the Shamu Stadium, where the rain gets heavier, so we're glad to sit in the dry, even if we have a while to wait.

We really enjoy Shamu Rocks too, but when we come out and see the lightning lighting up the sky, we decide to head back to the villa and not wait for the fireworks.

A bit of tv and we head to bed.

Tomorrow - we're off to the coast.

Our usual routine now is alternating park and rest days. We feel that gives us the best of both worlds, and we still come home feeling like we've had a holiday rather than needing another!

I know it's not for everyone though, and it certainly wasn't how we did things on our first couple of trips, as the obvious temptation was to pack in as much as we could. I can't keep up the pace anymore though.

It's not far at all, just a couple of minutes. It's on the 27, almost on the junction with the 192 - you'll spot it easily.

There's been some real hit and miss reviews of there over the last few years, but it had just changed hands when we went and the reviews were positive again.
