Hiring Car Seats!

Hi,

I’m a regular at Disney however this is my first time going with a child. My baby will be 21 months when we go May 2022 (after rearranging from August 2021) I’m just curious about how everyone has gone about hiring car seats with their car hire etc! We have an isofix in our car at home but I don’t fancy taking the base and a seat. How much is the rent on a seat and are they similar to our seats at home?

Many thanks!

Hi
Yes, you can rent them directly from the car hire companies and usually pick your own from the store cupboard if collecting from the airport:

Alamo/National: $6.99 per day with a maximum of $70 per 30 day rental
Budget/Avis: $13 per day with a maximum of $65
Dollar/Thrifty/Hertz: $13 per day with a maximum of $91
Sixt: $11.49 per day with a maximum of $97.99
Car seats are paid for locally and subject to local taxes.

Prices are per seat.

They use a latch system basically the seat uses the isofix anchors ours do but it’s like the clips on dog leads that fasten on and it has top tether and you pull the straps as tight as possible
You will find YouTube videos on it if you look

We always take our own. That we know they are safe and well looked after. All airlines offer carriage for no extra charge.

I know I'd rather battle with a known seat after a long flight than have to figure out a new one. Just me but then I'm maybe old school in that I've never used an isofix!

We've always taken our own. We didn't want to take our isofix base etc either so take the spare one that we use in Grandparents car which just fastens in with seatbelt which was much easier. We did one take our really heavy isofix once which was fine UK side, but a pain trying to carry USA side unless we put it on the 2nd carousel at MCO which takes ages so just ended up carrying it (or rather my DH did &#128514.
