I don't see it as a big deal. At the end of the day I'd sooner wear a mask walking around Disney and waiting for my food in a restaurant than walking around my home town and sitting in a local eatery. I'm not cancelling my summer trip as yet.

This is just nonsense. I don't mean the policy, I mean the title of the story. A number of bloggers here have made this a much bigger issue than it really is. In the parks and in the public areas of hotels, you already have to wear a mask. You wear a mask checking in for your dining reservation (or to ask if there are walk-ups), you wear your mask while you are waiting for your table, either inside or outside the restaurant. You wear a mask while you walk to your table. You wear a mask when you go to the restroom and you wear a mask when you get up from your table to exit the restaurant. This story covers the (maybe) 5 minutes between you sitting down, your server asking what you want to drink and you getting your drinks. At that point, it's exactly as it was before yesterday.
I don't think Disney would make up a new policy unless they felt it was a significant change. .whether people adhere to it is a different matter..

My point is though that some seem to be thinking it is such a major change that it would now stop them from going, and that every time you have a drink or eat a forkful of food then you put your mask back on, which according to people who have actually been since the new rule, just isn't the case.

For me if we ended up there with masks still required I would have thought we can still enjoy restaurants in a nearly normal way as we do here when they are open.

I don't really want to spend so much on food and be worrying if I should have mask on or off. Our holiday meals were for relaxing and having a laugh about our day.

There is no mask mandate in Florida, but obviously some businesses have made thier own rules. Im sure there are plenty restaurants outside of Disney that don't require masks while sitting down until the magic time your food arrives and Covid goes into hiding until your finished.

When I first heard of the policy, when Mrs B read it yesterday, my immediate thought is "that's rubbish" as I interpreted it too as requiring a mask having to be worn absolutely every second that food or drink is not being consumed.

Then I watched the latest Paging Mr Morrow vlog where he visited the Garden Grill and it's actually as others have said: barely any change at all. The difference is likely to be 5-10 minutes max. As soon as a drink is delivered to your table, you can go maskless for the duration of your meal.

If the change bothers you, the chances are you would have been bothered before the change, as it's a very minor adjustment.

That I can live with and it makes more sense. You and the server both wear masks until there is no longer a need for the server to come to the table then put it back on when there is.

I really do think people are making a meal out of this.

Thank you, I’ll be here all week.
