Enjoy the time you have left with her and talk about everything if she’s well enough. We chatted about her funeral, music, flowers etc. Talked about life in general, she asked me to look out for my sister who was her carer which I do. It will get better which is hard to imagine now but I went to a Florida 3 months after. She told me not to cancel my holiday and I had to go, it was actually a lovely holiday. I still miss her but I can talk about her without getting really upset anymore, just do what you need to including crying to get through. Take care xxx

I'm so sorry to read your news and the fact that you have not seen her for so long will just make things worse. Enjoy however much time you have left with her and just remember that even once she passes she will still be with you in your memories and your own persona. The best gift you can give her at the moment is your time and love.

My dear Mum passed away last June and we were allowed to visit daily during her last few weeks and they also allowed close family and friends who were not shileding to visit to say goodbye. While we knew what was coming she was at peace, made us laugh, wanted her nails painted, kept giving me more details about what was to happen and she kept smiling. My life had revolved round spending time with her and helping her and my late Dad and there is a large void which I have still not filled. I drive past the end of her street most days and still go to indicate to pop in and then remember she is not there.

While it may not seem it at the moment life will go on and as time passes you will only remember the good times and memories.

I lost my dear mum in November to another lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis) and I genuinely didn’t know how I’d survive without her. As devastating as her loss has been, and I don’t think I’m remotely there in terms of accepting it yet, those last few weeks before she died were truly awful and I’m so grateful she is now at peace.
