I was absolutely devastated when I saw the title of this thread, Popeye is in my opinion the best ride in the world, my record was 3 times in a row and I was absolutely drenched

I just got my planner out and thankfully we don't go to IOA until the 24th so it doesn't affect me, I am genuinely devastated for those who miss out on it, not only is it a brilliant funny ride (seeing others on your boat get drenched and laugh at them only for it to happen to you a few seconds later is my happy place) but as I loved Popeye as a kid it brings back a lot of nostalgia.

Oh man, we missed doing this ride last time and we had been so looking forward to doing it this time.
Really gutted to hear it will now be closed when we are there, talk about a late announcement!

It’s not the end of the end of the world thefe are plenty more rides and attractions at universal. If you do want a ride similar to Popeyes then sea world has infinity falls it’s very gd and you get soaked

There is Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom but I've never got nearly as wet as on Popeye.

Popeye, Jurassic and Ripsaw falls always closes once a year for maintenance and repainting. That’s why been 20 years old it still looks as good. When we went last in Sept 2011 it was closed then for maintenance. Ripsaw has his usually Jan to Mar and Jurassic after Spring break to the start of the USA school holidays.
