Mobile Hair extensions-a few questions

I’m considering having some for my wedding and already had a consultation with Great Lengths.

Currently I have very fine shoulder length hair which is prone to knots and that typical bed hair look.

I’ve been looking at how to care for them and have seen that wearing a silk bonnet whilst sleeping helps keep in good condition.

Is this a myth?
Anyone have experience of long extensions, good or bad?

I have fine hair shoulder length. Had extensions over 18 months ago and find it very hard to manage very heavy etc. Once they were out my hair felt even thinner and it took a cut to very short bob to get it back to normal. My friends love them can’t live without them me not so much I would never have them again. Trick is to platt your hair every night before bed so it doesn’t knot.good luck hope they work for you

I’ve had hair extensions a few times. My preferred method is nano rings as I found they were small enough to get through a normal paddle brush. As mentioned above plait before bed always to avoid knots. You do need to be really on it with the brushing, I used to spend ages brushing mine especially around the name of the neck to ensure it didn’t get knotted.
I found the nano ring method didn’t damage my natural hair at all. It feels thinner when they take them out because you go from super thick back to normal which take a while to get used too. They also layer your hair to blend the length which can feel like your hairs thinned out. So just be wary that you will feel bald for a week or so when they come out.

I don’t have any experience of them but my goodness no I wouldn’t attempt it for the first time eighteen days before my wedding. Yikes.

My SIL has them, obv real hair but they are on strips as such. She swears by them, I had some for my wedding, also on strips but they clipped in and out. You couldn't tell and my hair was much fuller on the day.

My hair is very fine and thin and just looks awful, I just want to look nice on the day.
My parents were very strict and I had to have short hair as a child, they made me look like a boy 😢

I have extensions and also have fine hair, I love mine but they are an expensive upkeep! I have had them about 10 times and would say that never let them cut into your own hair to blend, a perfect colour match you don’t need it! It does make your hair feel and look bad when they’re taken out as they make such a difference to your hair. The first couple of nights sleep is slightly uncomfortable but then fine! I usually have 100 strands, no more. Just make sure you use a well known salon that specialises in them. They are amazing and worth it for special occasions.

I'd probably suggest opting for clip ins, are you having bridal hair done by a hair dresser? As you'll need to let them know as well that you're planning on using clip ins and she may be able to recommend a type.

I've used hair rehab clip ins before which were good, although it can be difficult to colour match so you may need to order a few shades.

I had extensions put in for my wedding too as I am similar to you, my hair is a reasonable length but I think it is too thin and I wanted it to look nice for the wedding. (I will add that I had already had extensions a few years before).
I am SO glad I had them, they made such a difference and I absolutely loved how my hair looked on my wedding day. I know that I would 100% have regretted not having them done.

I love extensions, I would have them all the time if I could, but the upkeep is too much for me. I have to wash my hair every day and I cannot do that with extensions as it takes too long. If I only had to wash my hair once or twice a week I think I would always have them.
