When checking in at Disney Springs last year we were two kilos over for one of our cases. The lady said that Virgin allow you to go over by 1 kilo so we only had to balance out the other kilo. Don’t know if that’s by discretion or standard.

Clearly you need to train with some of the checkout attendants. Some of their nails would be classified as offensive weapons here.

We had our luggage weighed at Disney Springs last year. My daughter's was very under the limit. Mine was over but they just put a heavy load label on it. We weren't asked to repack at all.

We went a bit mad with our packing so our cases were already reaching the limit, so when we flew back we were both over. We managed to move bits between our cases and my sisters ended up under and mine was still over, but as it was only over by a few kilos they let it slide.

Why not just ask the airline if you can pool the weight allowance as ultimately it is down to the airline.
With Jet2 for example, you can pool the weight allowance of anyone on the same booking up to a maximum of 32kg in any one bag.

From my experience, the only airline we have used that allows bag/weight pooling is Aer Lingus. They just ensure your bags aren't over the total and that no bag is too heavy (think it 32kg).
