Jet lag on return and first school day

Hi
Can anyone tell me how likely is it my kids will feel if we land Sunday morning and have to go to school the next day.
Am I a mad mum making them do this lol.

They will get on and get back into the swing of things much more quickly doing it that way rather than having loads of "recovery" time.

We did it last year. Landed on the Tuesday and they went back to school on Wednesday - and I started a new job that day too! I actually think we got back into the swing of things much quicker.

Also, just check if there is an inset day on that Monday 7th Sep?

I accidentally did this a few years ago as my dd’s school had never gone back on 1 September. They did that year and we landed home on 31st August. We flew via Dublin so didn’t get home until 4pm.

My dd reluctantly got up the next day and made it to school, but was then sick and got sent home for 2 days!

I would keep them at home on that day , if not an inset day.
Not saying you shoudl be it's what I would do!

I think it would be pretty bad for a kid to miss the first day of the new school year.

We got back on Monday and our daughter was saying even yesterday she had to wake her kids up at 8AM to go to nursery. She's off today - I bet they woke up at 6.30 this morning, like they normally do!

We’ve never done this before but next Aug our kids school goes back pretty late so we took advantage of the cheaper costs.

We’ll fly back Sunday, land Monday (training day) and back to school Tues. One thing I’ve insisted on is the train, rather than car, back from the airport. We’ve done both in the past but driving is hard after an overnight flight plus the kids fall asleep meaning they don’t sleep that night. When we get the train everyone was more relaxed, stayed awake chatting and then went to bed at a reasonable time so I feel that’s our best bet for kids at school and DH at work the next day.

We usually land home on the Saturday and head back to work etc on the Monday.

Have your kids flown long haul before? If so, do you remember how they slept on the first night after landing. You know your kids better than anyone.
