i think that you are in High demand form the snowbirds!

These are mostly newyorkers etc renting for 3 months at leas to avoid the snow and bad weather up there

Its worth noting that your dates are also for 2014. Its a guess then for owners what overheads are going to be 2 years away especially utilities which have sharply risen in the last 18 months. A 6 bed sleeps 14 so even at 1000 a week its 10 per person per night..hardly a rip off for what you get.IMHO.

I guess you are paying for convenience. Shop around and see if you can get two villas closer together where you can split your party.

To be honest, I thought that as there must be 12 - 14 people going, 142 per night sounded pretty reasonable.

We often rent 2 bed tiny cottages (no pool ) here in UK for a week and they cost a minimum of 550 depending which part of the country they are.

1000 per week for a 7 bedroomed home that will sleep 16 people works out at 8.92 per person, per night! I wouldn't say that is expensive.
