The daughter bought one last year. It is a Hermann called Bumble and is four years old. She is so spoiled it has got its own bedroom in the house and half my garden.

I love tortoises, but I have never had one. I look into it from time to time but I don’t feel I have enough knowledge.

A family member has a few and has raised lots of babies. We babysat these ones last year while she was on holiday. For context, their shells are just bigger than 50p pieces. They are eating chopped up cucumber in this photo.

Have a look at the tortoise protection group, everything you need to know. A bit different from when we were kids. They lived under your hedge and came out now and again to eat some weeds.

We have 2 Billy & Bella, Hermanns too. They are 14 now. Billy was very poorly with septicaemia shortly after we got them so DH has hand fed him for 12 years. He's half the size of Bella - she's definitely the boss, they have completely different personalities!

We have Tristan the tortoise. My ex mother in law bred her two and they had quite a few babies. He is super quick loves nothing more than chasing after toes to bite and terrorising poor bill the Springer. He makes a lunge for him and tries to take a bite.

I have a fear of tortoises after being chased round the garden by a friend with hers when I was young, I ran inside the kitchen & closed the door behind me but she put it through the cat flap !

I’ll never forget it’s face...pure evil !

I have to admit this made me laugh too...love tortoises but have you ever seen one eat a strawberry? They end up looking like they’re in The Walking Dead 😂
