I had forgotten Gatlin's two positive tests. I'm guessing you'll be supporting Christian Coleman in the final then?
And I've just realised I forgot to continue the discussion about "tight ends"! I'll remedy that another time!

I blame my mother for my slovenly ways - she's a particular sort of woman, but she always put time with each other above tidying the house. Though, having said that...when we were having people over or giving a party - and I would ask why I had to scrub the baseboards with a toothbrush - she would answer, "Yours not to reason why - yours but to do and die."
As to healthcare, my friend...I think you and I may have different politics. This is a gross oversimplification - but what I always say is...if the choice is between broke and dead - I'll take broke. Broke can be remedied. But perhaps we should - as we did with the Sphinx cat, lol - just agree to disagree. I also like Florida as a holiday destination, things seem so straightforward there. I think you've hit the nail on the head with that description of Florida holidays. I have such a long list of places I want to go - and yet... And I hear you about wanting to get two uses out of the APs. Any hope of an IT convention in Orlando before May? The suits pick up the bill AND you get a lovely WDW holiday...maybe? |

Hey, Paula! We all have our health issues, don't we? I went round and round with whether or not I should even write about all my "stuff", but I decided to in the end because: 1. I think it affected the way I perceived the whole TF situation 2. I hoped that someone *might* have experience with migraines But I never imagined so many of us in this thread would have them! We decided not to tell TF's parents about my health. I just figured TF already had enough on his plate - and it's not as if they could help. What I WISH is that DH had called it all off instead of leaving that decision up to me. Because that made me feel guilty when I thought about saying, "Sorry, but..." Lol, if I had a shiny pound coin for every time I've said, "Good manners cost nothing" - I'd have a LOT of shiny pound coins. But YOU know how often and how hard that message needs to be hammered home. I think some parents forget that. Of all the things I've tried to teach Poot - manners have required the most (and most frequent) lessons. Many thanks for the good wishes - |

Even before this post I don't think anyone would deny that my trippies were the strangest on the Dibb ( ) - but the inclusion of "plenary indulgence" and then "whiff of a spinal tap"...it's too, too much! I do feel calmer having now been scanned within an inch of my life. I can now totally understand why some people have "prophylactic MRIs". But it can't be all bad - my neurologist told my husband I need as little stress as possible! You absolutely CAN get everything from the Dibb. I've asked about extra-long nightdresses, migraines - and silly nicknames for airlines - just to name a few. I think there are two types of doctors (I do love sorting people into groups) - the ones who want to HELP people - and the ones who want to solve mysteries. This neuro seems to be a Sherlock. And I'd prefer competent AND kind - though I know that's not always possible. |

OK...you made me think. I actually felt BAD for JG tonight when the boos rained down upon him. The (Eurosport) commentators made the point that silence would be more seemly than boos - and I definitely agree.
I don't know much ABOUT Coleman - but I suppose so. Though well done to your lanky countryman Mr. Prescod! |

Hi, just wanted to say I have really enjoyed your trip report and thank you for being so open. You have made me laugh till I cried 😀 I was so sorry to hear about you being poorly and I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. ( I have migraines which start with a numb hand and 'wiggly things' in my eyes before pain, my mum has dyslexic migraines, no pain but her vision is wierd and gobbledygook comes out when she tries to speak 😀 I think Poot is wonderful, he has a wonderful way of seeing the world.
Thank you for sharing x |

Funnily enough, I'm trying to stop sorting people into groups, but it is sooo tempting sometimes. At least both your groups are positive ones. I'd add another group, but maybe I've been unlucky with some of the medics I've encountered. Not all, I hasten to add and I have a particular respect for emergency medics. Competent and kind must be out there, though.

Yes, I didn't like the pantomime booing. We can do better than that! In that sense, I don't think it helps that Bolt is so loved. The contrast certainly doesn't work in JG's favour.
I don't know whether JG's guilty or not. It must be hard to ensure that all the things you consume are untainted. On the other hand, there are the Lance Armstongs who are guilty but deny it over and over for a long time, making it hard to be sure either way. I found it interesting to compare JG's running style with Bolt's and Coleman's especially (but also Prescod's, since he ran next to him). JG seemed far more focused, deliberate and streamlined. His elbows were more tucked in, for one thing, but generally there was a noticeable difference in style. Also, booing aside, one thing I do, generally, like about British crowds and TV coverage is our willingness to support and appreciate great athletes from anywhere in the world. American TV is not so good at showing athletes who aren't American, which is a shame, because we get to enjoy them all!

Scrubbing the baseboards with a toothbrush
I have never done that in my life and I never want to. As to the uses of the AP - my Christmas (well early Dec.) trip is courtesy of an IT convention to LV in that I'm coming back "via" a week in Orlando - just paying for the accommodation and car hire. I say just, that with the Universal ticket is >£1000. Then again I succumbed to a ridiculously cheap VA PE flight to Orlando, out via Belfast and back via Gatwick for the princely sum of £370.(I did get an extra discount of £234 spending my airmiles) I will get about a week to visit Disney before my pass expires. I'm just waiting for my visit at Christmas to see what I want to do for accommodation. I'm also considering this time having the last 4 days on the Gulf coast. Not Netflix and chill, more margarita and chill I'm again looking forward to your Cruise mini-trippie - but I have to say that considering this update has already got to 10 pages I fear you underestimate your popularity as an author and general commentator on life . I watched the athletics last night and the amount of boos for JG also left me uncomfortable - if the IAAF allowed him to compete then that is on them. It does seem rather random as to which athletes are allowed back into the sport after positive tests. |
