Alcohol and flying don't mix with me so I would be fine with that. Last year we flew Turkish to Istanbul and had a free drinks service and I indulged in a couple of Efes Pilsners and felt like absolute death on the transfer to the hotel. I have never had more than a small sip of champagne on a transatlantic flight, it was our honeymoon after all.

The smoking is just so outrageous I can't even begin to contemplate what I would have said to that guy

Reading this thread makes everything clear now on last years virgin flight to Vegas ..in the air port we had the Chicken , the Banana and Superman obviously all stags on the week away .. Never ever thought until you put this thread up ... Yes they were an absolute pain in the bum .. We had no drinks all flight .. But I take medication to fly and we had the seat belts on 90% of the trip .. Now I know why ... Apart from been scared witless thinking there was turbulence ahead .. I was unwatered nearly all flight and peeing myself for hours ! .. How I felt after that trip .. He wouldn't have needed a police escort ... He would have asked for one for his safety ... Had I have got my hands on him

I must admit it did take some restraint not to go upto his party and say what the beep beep is he doing !
But we had the kids with us and we tried to play it down as much as possible for their sakes .

And yes you could ban drink to for all we care, neither of us drink and my DH never would anyway knowing he had to drive the other end anyway .

And if this flight is known to be a bad one then maybe it's time VA did something about it, I'm not a great one for complaining but I will be telling them just how scary it was ..

Maybe if they stopped serving alcohol the flight prices would be cheaper?!

Sorry you had this awful flight, my worst nightmare!

We flew BA and had no problems, most of our flight were a big Spanish tour group and randomly a group of nuns!

I* agee with you Here just my option I have nothing against haveing A drink in the right place but not on flights . I all so have nothing against people who smoke even though I never have . If you a smoker and can not go 10 to 11 hours with out A drag or Drink then don't fly

We don't travel with much hand luggage but I do think the size / weight restrictions should be enforced better , we do twilight checkin and I d never had my hand luggage checked we could take 20kg on board and no one known .

It was pretty scary the outcome could have been so much worse and I know this sounds silly but I'm glad my kids sit in the middle of the row and not the end .
Thanks to this thread I now will always sit my kids in the centre or by the window now. That poor lady, must have been such a shock to her! .. If it was my child it hit .. Well, let's just say they would have prob been escorting an extra person from the plane too! lol .. Really hoping our August vegas flight isn't like this! Flying on a Sunday, so hopefully won't be too full of Wally's

Until I saw it happen I had never given a thought to where the kids sit on a plane , never occurred to me there was a danger . I never saw who if belonged to , they certainly didn't stand up and admit it was theirs whilst it was happening .

I think what happened was , the overhead cabins were all full ( which is a problem because so many people have such large cabin bags now ) and this large red case had been put on top of a smaller case and it wasn't balanced properly , had all the cases been put on their sides I don't think it would have happened .

It seems silly to me there are hand baggage restrictions in place but no one enforces them ?

But if you have flights where drinking is obviously a problem the surely banning alcohol is a good thing ?

I have no doubt that what happened with the smoker was down to alcohol , granted they had been drinking before boarding, but maybe if they hadn't been serve alcohol on board they might have been easier to control .
And well they were off to vegas after the flight alcohol was about a 10 min taxi ride away from the airport so it's not like they were going to be deprived for too long .

It's people like this who abuse the service that spoil it for everyone else.

Hope you have a great holiday and a quieter flight home than the one going.

It is well known that VA stock small amounts of Alcohol on the Vegas routes...
We ran out of drinks after 90 min's out of Gatwick. Granted I don't drink on the plane anyway, but when I did fancy a beer, I was told its Wine, vodka, coke and sprite only or coffee!

Hopefully, anyone who acts a D!ck on a plane should be refused entry to the destination country, and as you said, have the carrier refuse them boarding for any future flights...
