Another Amazing Adventure - Day 5 - 7th April 2016

The plan for today was to get up early to use the early opening at Universal Studios for onsite guests, ride Gringotts again and then get the Hogwarts Express over to IOA. That was the plan anyway.

We got up a bit late, packed our bags, and then had to check out whilst leaving our backpack at the hotel to collect later. That all took longer than we thought.

The water taxi was also very busy, so we ended up walking the path between RPR and CityWalk. By the time we got outside Universal Studios it was after 8:20am.

Walking in, we headed to Diagon Alley just like everyone else was doing. However, there was a huge queue just to get into Diagon Alley... let alone onto Gringotts.

We paused for a moment considering our options and decided to join the queue for the Hogwarts Express instead. We waited here for a while and then boarded one of the first trains over to Islands of Adventure.

As we arrived in Hogsmeade, the heavens opened and it threw it down. We ran into the entrance of Forbidden Journey which only had a short wait. In the end, the rain only last 2 or 3 minutes.

Forbidden Journey is a great ride although I do come off it feeling a bit dizzy.

After that it was time for breakfast at the Three Broomsticks. It looks a lot better and well themed than my bad photo shows.

By the time we came out after breakfast the clouds had mostly gone and the sun was coming out

We then watched the Frog Chorus.

Over to the Jurassic Park "island" and Hannah was photobombed by a dinosaur.

Hannah and I did the Jurassic River ride thingy. Michelle doesn't do water rides. With our Express Passes we were quickly on. Thankfully we didn't get too wet.

We had a quick stop and look around in the Discovery Center place.

A shot from the Jurassic Park area across the lake towards the Incredible Hulk ride. As you can see, the track was now complete but Hulk was not yet open. It's due to reopen in the summer.

I think there's a leak in Toon Lagoon.

Lots to buy in the shops.

We didn't do any of the rides in Toon Lagoon. Although Hannah and I don't mind getting a little wet, we didn't fancy getting soaked.

So next it was my favourite island in IOA - Marvel Superhero island.

We went on the Spider-Man ride here - which is my favourite ride in the park and in Orlando in general. Hannah and I also went on the Storm Force teacups ride.

Later on I decided to buy an Avengers mug and a little wobbly head Captain America keyring.

As I mentioned earlier, the Hulk coaster was closed so we couldn't go on that (I'm not sure Hannah wanted to anyway - I was unsure about it too. My application to Team Wimp is in the post).

For a late lunch, we had a couple of large cinnamon buns from Cinnabon, whilst being pestered by a couple of ducks.

Duck!

A submarine at Seuss Landings.

I'm not sure how well panoramas turn out via this DIBB reporter app but here's a view around most of IOA from Seuss Landings near the entrance to the park.

This will probably look small and a bit rubbish.

Hogwarts from across the lake.

Hannah and I on One Fish, Two Fish.

Again, Michelle doesn't do water rides.

We got a bit wet.

That didn't stop us going on again a bit later.

This is the ceiling inside the Cap America Diner. It's pretty cool if you're a comic book fan.

Here come the heroes!

Spider-Man...

Rogue...

Captain America...

...

Actually, I think I'll stop there and not post the rest. You get the idea.

Bonus Lard Lad photo.

We were considering having one of the "donuts" (they are huge) but never did. Perhaps next time?

And, as we're on the subject of large sugary things, here's a photo of a Minion toffee apple.

Late in the afternoon, we left Islands of Adventure, had a look around the CityWalk shops and took the water taxi back to RPR. We picked up our backpack and took a fixed price taxi ($45) back to CBR and Disney.

We had some dinner using our "free" dining credits at Old Port Royale before resting in the evening.

Photos are great, the panoramic shot looked fab on my iPad.

Do you remember how long the walk took to the parks from RPR?

We're staying there in April

I think the walk took about 10 to 15 minutes. Something like that.

From the limited amount that we saw, RPR is a great hotel and I'm sure you'll love it. It's a pity we didn't stay there longer (although at just over £200 a night it would've pushed the budget to stay much longer).

Thanks for reading!
