This is my first proper watch of Disney’s Rapunzel story having seen lots of segments over the years with it being one of DD’s go-to choices. Disney+ Pascal is one of the best animal sidekicks, Gromit-like levels of expressiveness! And Maximus isn’t bad either Has a nice feel good vibe overall Appealing animation style, they brought this realm to life very nicely Disney- I found the story a bit meh, most teenagers would have just moved out 7.5/10 It’s very good but I don’t rate it as highly as some do Frozen For DD and I this is probably ‘our film’ of our childhood having gone to watch it in the cinema on release (and then twice more) before she played it to death at home. Over-exposed as it became, the movie remains a favourite in our house. Disney+ An incredible line-up of songs, this got overshadowed by the hugeness of Let it Go but the likes of Whatever Snow does in Summer, Fixer-Upper and Love is an Open Door are classic light comic Disney songs delivered perfectly. The first 30 minutes reels off an amazing sequence of songs (with hindsight they could have held a couple back for Frozen 2!) Several of the main characters (Ana, Olaf, Christoph and Sven) have an endearing innocence to them which helps explain the appeal of this movie to a generation of young girls especially Love the way the villain switches more than once in the story Josh Gadd’s Olaf is a joy (and the Trolls are underrated too) Disney- Part of me still believes Elsa should be in the Disney Villains carpark at DLP 9/10 a modern Disney classic Frozen 2 Onto the sequel. Is this the first Princess movie sequel to get a full cinema release? Disney+ Stronger plot than expected for a sequel, they didn;t lack for the right story idea on this one Olaf’s fireside second retelling of the first movie plot is hilarious, like a comic version of C3P0 and the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi Worthy themes of respecting native culture Disney- Songs are a weakness, the opposite of the original Opening of the movie failed to engage me (it picks up later) 6/10 Not terrible by any means but an ordinary sequel
