Where to stay for Yosemite

Hi, we are doing Yosemite as part of road trip next year(fingers crossed), I did want to stay inside the park probably curry village but as we won’t be booking flights yet I won’t know exact dates and I know it all books up very quick, July next year is showing no availability already, so my question is what’s the next best place to stay for close proximity to the park?

We stayed in a condo in Yosemite West and would happily do that again! It is within the park boundary so no need to queue at the entrance each morning (very near the turning for Glacier Point so great if you want an early start there one morning!). Was very peaceful. Most of the accomodations are basic but adequate, but there are some more luxury offerings for a price! There are no shops so you need to do your food shopping before you get to the park.

We stayed in Wawona, just inside the park. Had a house with a hot tub for 3 nights which was lovely. There was also a small grocery store and gift shop there. Would recommend as a base within the park. The house we stayed in was called the birdhouse.

Here’s a link - its also available through booking.com and airbnb

We stayed inside the park in Yosemite Valley Lodge and they had a 100% refund cancellation policy, we had lots of driving on our road trip so it was nice to spend a few nights and not need to get in the car once.

We camped in Curry Village, I’d be surprised if it’s all sold out just yet are you sure the dates just haven’t been released?
I have mixed feelings about the camping and if/when I go back I would pay the extra to stay in one of the cabins instead.
The location is ideal as you are literally in the centre of the park for the trails and if you’re going at peak time then the traffic in and out of the park is horrendous so would always recommend one of the Valley Floor accommodations

Is everything sold out for August next year on the National Park website or just not on sale yet because of COVID?
