Can't book next year's holiday - Insurance
During a conversation with my insurance company about claiming my deposits for for this year I asked the question about booking for next year.
They confirmed that if I book next year's flights and villa just now (while we're still following guidelines on non essential travel) my policy won't cover me. Looks like I need to wait until restrictions are lifted, hopefully there'll still be a nice villa available. If anyone else is thinking of booking for next year it might be worth checking your insurance first.

I thought TA covered you from the time the policy was purchased irrespective of the date of booking.

I would have been booking direct with a villa owner, they said this wouldn't be covered.

So if you get ill just before travel, after you have purchased your policy, and cannot travel, you are not covered for cancellation, because you booked it before you were insured whilst travel restrictions were in place?
I dont doubt that is what you have been told, but its not normal in my experience? Disney332

Could you not change your insurance provider?🤔

It's an Annual Policy through my bank account that offers other services we use so I'm not keen to change.

Travel Agent doesn't provide any cover at all. ATOL provides some cover if a package. TA never have so don't understand what you mean by that comment.
Travel insurance is different at the moment as we are in a pandemic. Many will not cover you for Covid cancellations. |

What I've been advised may seem to be questionable but the point above is what I hoped to communicate the most. Apologies if this wasn't clear.
