I have to agree with some opinions... I have wanted black granite since forever!... but now that I have it, it drives me insane!

Every single mark shows up on it... every glass, every handprint, everything leaves a mark!

Three or four times a day, I polish it down with Cif kitchen cleaner, and then again with Method granite cleaner, or a micro fibre cloth... I try to time it so that I get the longest time of 'clean'... It honestly drives me nuts!

Thanks wonder if our granite is treated with something? We have black granite and it’s really easy to clean and don’t show up marks etc. We love it.

I recently changed my door & drawers to Matt grey, (had high gloss in a previous house & finger marks drove me insane)
The Matt feels really smooth & doesn’t show up every mark, T bar handles &
a high gloss cream back splash (a whole other thread!) all was from Howdens can post pictures if you wish.

Hi a lot of good advice so far. But to basics, what size is your kitchen. Have you gone to any showrooms, bought any magazines to look at ideas. If not take a few hours browsing and a couple of hours with mags. Pull out pictures that appeal to you , colour ,design, features, etc. Then you can narrow down what you want.

Early stages yet, just got DH to agree with me 😁

All I have so far is a brochure from Howdens.

We have selected what we think we need but taking a trip to DIY Kitchens in Doncaster on Monday to get some hands on look and feel.

I'll be fitting it myself too.

What I like is that we had the cupboards right to the ceiling, gives us so much more storage , even if I do need to stand in stool to reach the highest shelves (which are empty right now) but least I have the space if I need it.

We looked at a few brochures and kitchen suppliers and then a local supplier came out and looked at the space and came up with a couple of designs. He came up with some things that I love and wouldn't have thought of like cutting off the units by the back door and utility room and we incorporated things I wanted like a mug cupboard and full height integrated fridge and freezer.

I have a big small kitchen, not really big enough for an island or a sitting area which is what I'd like ideally. I wish we had paid a little more- especially for appliances and worktops but it will do for now. I love that we have so many drawers and our pull out larder.
