Durham residents...

Where would you recommend to park for a visit to Durham?

Thanks in advance.

I always park in the multi story at Prince Bishops.
Locals might know better options but that’s the easiest option for me.

I also park there but it might depend on how long you intend to stay as it’s quite expensive. There are park and ride options also depending on where you are coming from. This might be better depending on how many are travelling (I think the fare is £2 per person) but it doesn’t beat the convenience of Prince bishops car park

Not from Durham, but visited in August and we used the park and ride and found it really easy and convenient.

At the moment, given one of the bridges is shut and causing chaos in Durham I would say use the park and ride.
If you come off the A1 at Belmont/Carville there is a park and ride the other side of the roundabout.
Parking in Durham isn’t cheap. I usually park in the Prince Bishops but like I say one of the bridges is completely closed for the next year which means if you come into Durham from the wrong side you can’t get to the car parks!
In short, use the park and ride.

Ha; we stayed at the Marriott Royal County for 1 night last week; trying to leave the city the next morning wasn’t fun; our sat nav insisted on bringing us back to that bridge.
Eventually, we just drove to get well away from that area & then switched the sat nav back on 😃
