Air NZ cancelled our flight
Was waiting to see whether we would still be able to go in June and thinking it was unlikely but now the kiss of death on our holiday has come Email from AirNZ today to cancel (due to travel 27th June LHR to LAX) Disappointed... says they are giving a credit to travel in the 12 months from the credit being issued, not sure what that means yet (same class of travel and possible to book seats or a financial credit) Hubby says not to cancel hotels yet in case flights open up All hotels booked are cancellable at no cost (well one is a 1 night deposit paid) Only big cost was DVC points rental and we need to wait to see what happens with that as its non refundable (unless disney still closed) Anyone else in similar situation? Sam

Sorry to hear that, you must be so disappointed. They are stopping their LA route later this year, aren't they? That might effect rebooking. Glad you can get your money for your hotels.

So based on feedback put in a section75 and going to re-book and see what happens
If it gets cancelled again due to COVID then will be in same situation having to re-book but not the worst thing in the world Thanks Sam

Given the credit is a financial credit and does not guarantee to cover the cost of a future flight and that they are pulling the routes into the US I would not be wanting a credit note if I were you.
First step is to go back to Air NZ and request your right to a refund rather than a credit note. All airlines are starting from that point as they do not want to lose the cash flow. Section 75 comes if they refuse to meet their legal obligation. The US has already extending the enforced park enclosures in California until mid June as of yesterday, so this may help depending on when in June you were due to go. |

We did this route with Air New Zealand last month and the air stewards told us that this route ends October 2020 and all the staff are being made redundant.
Therefore as others have said it may be wise to request a refund. It s a shame because we thought Air New Zealand were excellent |

As others have said - Air New Zealand are retiring this route from October 2020 so best to try to get a refund and re-book for next year with a different airline.
Best of luck sorting out all arrangements!
