We're all going on a Poly-holiday - October 2019: Day 12: Summoned by the Queen
Day 12: Summoned by the Queen
Thursday 24 October 2019 Index Back to Magic Kingdom, breakfast at Gaston’s Tavern, lunch at BOG, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, BTMR, back home for some champers, over to Wilderness Lodge, Dinner at Storybook Dining at Artist Point and an evening in the pool again We started off the day by getting dressed and ready nice and early and walking to the monorail to take a ride to MK. The plan for breakfast was to grab a cinnamon bun at Gaston’s Tavern! Walking up Main Street The beautiful castle We had a quick couple of photos in front of the purple wall again On the way to Gaston’s Tavern We chose a LeFou’s Brew - Frozen Apple Juice with a hint of Toasted Marshmallow and topped with All-Natural Passion Fruit-Mango Foam, a coffee and 2 cinnamon buns with extra frosting on the side. The LeFou’s brew was really nice, I particularly liked the foam. The cinnamon rolls were OK, nothing on the last time we went. They were a bit dry and stale which was such a shame. We posed for some pictures in Gaston’s chair before we left. After breakfast we had a browse around the shops, I was looking for a specific spirit jersey I had seen earlier in the holiday but decided not to get at the time and now couldn’t find anywhere! We did see loads of really cool logo t-shirts though We walked to our first fast pass of the day - Splash Mountain! We had a fab time on the ride, I love the smell of the water it brings back so many happy memories. Next, we went to Space Mountain for our second fast pass - I love this ride so much but I’m always scared to put my arms up as its so dark I’m afraid I will hit something… (i know this is irrational ) Our last fast pass of the day was BTMR All those rides had given us a big appetite and it just so happened it was time for our 12pm dinner reservation at Be Our Guest! We checked in and were escorted round to the ordering area to the right as you go in. We chose our meals and then picked out a table in the Castle gallery area. We all chose Braised Chicken (Coq Au Vin Style) - Coq Au Vin Braised Chicken in White Wine with Bacon, Mushrooms, Roasted Asparagus, Blistered Heirloom Tomatoes, and Braised Leeks served with Mashed Potatoes It was blimmin delicious - between us we ate every bit. We also were able to order a glass of red wine each for Andy and I which was lovely with the meal and a fab use of QS credits. We chose the most expensive one because…. Why not! It was free after all. Simi Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley, normally $16 a glass. For dessert we got ONE Master's Cupcake - Chocolate Sponge Cake topped with Lumiere’s special “Grey Stuff” It was very small for sharing between 4 but it was probably for the best! We were done with the park once again so started walking to the exit. To change things up a bit, we decided to get the boat back to our resort instead of the monorail. It made a really nice change and was very relaxing feeling the breeze in our hair and taking in the sights and sounds. Edited at 08:17 PM. |

After the boat ride we chilled out on the beach at our resort for a while
Then we walked back to our room to get ready and relax before our evening meal at Wilderness Lodge! We were in the mood for a bit of fizz and thought it was about time we opened our second and final bottle of Veuve Clicquot we had in our fridge since the beginning of the holiday. Andy and I relaxed on the balcony with some champagne whilst the girls chilled and watched the Descendants 3 Feeling particularly lazy, we booked a Lyft to Wilderness Lodge, the alternative would’ve been either a monorail then a bus or a boat or a boat then a bus or a boat but we just wanted to hang around as late as we could in our room and go straight there so for $10 this was worth it to us. We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge lobby with about ten minutes to spare and had a look around the shop and the lobby and then did some pin trading. When it was time for our reservation we walked over to the restaurant and checked in. We were big Artist Point fans having eaten there previously when we stayed at WL on a previous trip and were initially really sad to hear that Artist Point’s signature dining restaurant had been replaced with a one credit character meal “Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White” but when the reviews started coming in it actually looked like a great experience and it quickly became part of our shortlist of restaurants and made it to the trip itself. I can see why Disney changed it, when we used to go to Artist Point the restaurant was not busy in the slightest but today when we went it was packed. Every table was full! We were shown to our seat right at the back of the restaurant. I have to say the enchanted forest theming with the lights was so stunning it looked really pretty in the restaurant. Our napkins The menu Such a cute themed plate As we were choosing our dinner, the characters broke out into a loud dancing parade around the restaurant… Andy’s face says it all The starters were included and chosen for you. The girls were given something called “From the Garden” which was Vegetables, Cheese, Oreo crumbs and a ranch dip. It was very strange but the girls seemed to like it and it was a very cute a whimsical design. For the adults, the starters were Mushroom Bisque - Crispy Mushroom, Hunter’s Terrine - Chicken, Black Truffle, Stone Fruit Preserve, House-made Pickles and Wicked Shrimp Cocktail with Soy, Miso, Avocado, Thai Chili, Greens We really liked the starters, although we found the bisque a bit too salty (and I really like salt!) For drinks, Andy and I got “Evil to the Core” - Patrón Silver Tequila, Habanero, Blackberry, Orange Juice. It was absolutely gorgeous The girls chose the Transformation Potion, which was Odwalla® Lemonade, Blue Potion It was super cool and the girls thought it was a really fun idea. Our first visitor to our table was Snow White, she was very sweet and chatty with the girls Our mains arrived shortly afterwards, I chose “A Stroll through Nature” Asparagus, Leeks, Arugula, Gnocchi, Sage, Parmesan - this ended up being one go my favourite meals of the holiday it was gorgeous! Andy and Izzy chose the Royal Prime Rib Roast - Horseradish-Mashed Potato, Carrots, "Popover" (AKA Yorkshire pudding!), Jus. Immy chose the kids version but Izzy and her shared the beef from Izzy’s adult portion. The food was excellent quality, we all enjoyed our mains very much. During dinner, Grumpy and Dopey also came to say hi For dessert we all shared a selection of miniature treats - I love mini desserts as I like being able to try lots of different things. The desserts were: Miner’s Treasures - Sponge Cake, Chocolate Gems, Berry Panna Cotta 'Poison' Apple - Dark Chocolate-Apple Mousse, Sour Center Fairy Tale Gooseberry Pie - Meringue, Gooseberry Near the end of dessert, our server brought over the Hunter’s Gift to the Queen which was in a smoking glass chest - Crackled Maple Popcorn, Ganache Hearts - it was so theatrical and also very delicious. Very clever. All of the desserts were great and the service had been top notch too. At the end of our meal she gave us a little ticket to see the Evil Queen, we settled up and got in the short queue near the exit. The Evil Queen was very funny and true to form - very mean! We nipped to the WL arcade to use a few more of our credits, it was cool to try out a few different games and the girls used some of their credits to have their photos taken - I love these pictures so much! We took a Lyft home to the poly and back to our room to change then went back out to the lava pool for some relaxing time in the pool and hot tub. After swimming, I did a little bit of packing away; not a lot, just all the stuff I could easily chuck in a case knowing we wouldn’t need it in the next day or so. A fantastic day |
