Whale watching in Monterey
Hi, starting to plan a west coast trip for next year hopefully, wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a whale watching company in Monterey? Thanks

Monterey Bay Whale Watch, hands down - Nancy Black is a world renowned cetacean expert marine biologist.
Their website isn’t the best, but I wouldn’t go whale watching with anyone else. I recommend checking out their Facebook page, they regularly upload photos and videos of their trips out (although not taking the public out at the moment they are still going out taking surveys) montereybaywhalewatch/

Hi I’ll kick with another foot and highly recommend sanctuary cruises at moss landing. We have gone with them on 2 occasions and on each trip it has been fantastic. From Monterey it’s a 15/20 min drive to the top end of the bay which I believe makes it quicker to get to some of the feeding areas. As with most of the companies they always have a marine biologist on board who helps with spotting and for any questions you have for whatever level of your knowledge. For anyone who may suffer with motion sickness or are even just worried about it they have wrist bands that you can hire which stops this.

I would certainly recommend Monterey Bay Whale Watch. In Easter 2018 we saw..
15 Humpbacks 2 Greys 500 plus Risso’s Dolphins Sea Otter with Cub Sea lions 2 x Albatross Albatri? Albatrosses? The commentary was excellent and the boat both large and stable..

We went with Princess Monterey Whale Watching. Truly fantastic, the commentary was excellent. The boat wasn’t overcrowded like a lot that we saw out on the water at the same time. Everyone had plenty of space to move about and see the Whales when they appeared, a memory I’ll never forget!
