VA Miles Flight - anyone gone through cancellation?
Hi All,
We’ve booked our October flights using miles and a flight voucher. We know if we cancelled we’d get the miles back but does anyone know if the voucher (free companion / upgrade from CC) would be transferable too? Has anyone amended/cancelled their flights in the same situation?

I've cancelled before in normal times, many times
The miles should be credited immediately, the taxes are a different matter. The refund could take up to 90 days. Is it a Eco-PE voucher? This should be put back on your account, but only for the original validity period. This used to be 12 months with the MBNA cards, but is now 24 months on the Virgin Money CC I believe. |

Thanks for your reply that’s good to know. As VA have said they are extending such vouchers by 6 months, I wonder if that would apply if the voucher ended ‘back’ on the account.

I would be interested in this too. We have reward flights booked for August and October. They have both been boosted, I wonder what will happen with that money? If I remember rightly they might of changed the policy a few months ago to refund the boost money too, but since then things have changed so not sure what’s going on now?

There is normally a £30pp admin fee to cancel, but they will probably waive this in the circumstances. Might depend on the agent.
If a flight is cancelled, for whatever reason, the booster should be refunded. "If the flight associated with the Miles Booster purchase is cancelled by Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited, customers are eligible for a refund and may initiate one by calling a Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited contact centre. If the flight associated with the Miles Booster purchase is cancelled by the Flying Club member, Virgin Atlantic reserves the right to cancel the Miles Booster transaction. All refunds will be processed by Points.com International Limited within 48 hours of approval and credited back via the original form of payment." |

I am interested in this too, I am currently in a dialogue with VA through their support channels on Whats App asking these questions!
I have premium flights booked in August to Miami, one flight booked with miles and then the other was a reward companion flight. Their initial response was I could defer these flights for up to a year without any charge, I went back and asked for more details as I am looking at a different route now and also different dates, so wanted to know how they would work out the cost of my flights as such. |

So my mum had flights to New York cancelled last week and she used miles plus two PE upgrade vouchers that were mine that I kindly gave her 😇
She has had the miles credited to her account straight away and the refund on the taxes should be on its way (hmmm) but we don’t know about the upgrade vouchers. I fully expect to lose them because they were due to expire back in July last year when the trip was booked. They won’t confirm to my mum the detail because they say I need to call as the account holder to check the validity of them. If summer 2021 is released on Saturday I might be tempted to book so I’ll call and see whether my vouchers are still there or not and update here |
