Norwegian Cruise line why prices so different

So... I fancy a cruise next year with parent, hubby 7 kids (aged 16 & 12 at time of travel). However, can't decide whether to go from NYC or Miami. Both are 7 night & both priced same on their website... but the NYC to Bermuda to is £90 dearer per adult but £150 cheaper per child? Plus both have a diff of £40 per child for the 2nd cabin?

Also itinerary for NYC is only sailing to Bermuda for 3 days, whereas Miami is honduras, mexico (x2) so a bit more interesting. What's swaying me is the kids fancy NYC - but I've done it and not done Miami - so selfishly I'm swaying to there.

Anyone have any ideas or any suggestions of a way to book this cheaper than going direct with NCL?

(I've travelled with them before so get a wee bit discount)

All thoughts and words of wisdom welcome

I am hoping to book a cruise for July 2020 for a big birthday but so far there are only 2 available with Norweigan from Florida

Take a look at Cruise Circle as it has quite a good search function & prices seemed the best when I was looking in the summer then I called Thomas Cook Cruises & they matched the price which was considerably cheaper than the NCL website.
Good luck
Cheers

Bear in mind when considering my suggestions, tips. If you want to remove your tips, because you like to tip in cash and you have booked in the US, you can’t without completing a form and waiting for the money to come back via a cheque in The post in US dollars. For UK bookings your tips are now included.

First of all for UK pricing check Viva voyage.co.uk Cruise nation, or cruise118.

For US pricing check Vacations to go, cru con (do live pricing) and viva voyage.com.

Often with a US booking you have to pay the tip if you are taking a free drinks package on top so make sure pricing includes that.

With UK bookings, they usually include the drinks and tips, so pricing will come out higher at face value so make sure you have included these in your US prices to compare apples to apples.

Benefits of US pricing you can do price adjustment up until final payment date or cancel and rebook if not at final. With UK you cannot get any further price drops. A US TA may also be offering extra OBC.

Let me know how you get on.

As for the route, go for Miami. I don’t care for sea days myself. Although saying that we’ve just got back from Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya and I hated the Mexican places as we got hounded by the locals wanting us to go in their shops where you then haggle.

My mom loves cruising Boston to Bermuda but that is because she lives an hour from Boston and doesn't have to fly. If you are going from the UK I would definitely choose Miami for more ports. It is like an American flying to Southhampton instead of Italy for a Med cruise, pretty pointless IMO. If you really want to add on a NY stay, you could fly via NY on the way to or from Miami. A hotel in NY would be pretty expensive with all those kids though.

Wow! Thanks all - some really good info here - so I'm off to do some more searching. I do like the idea of paying it all up front and knowing there's no surprise extras at the time. Also prefer to have the drinks included too

Sorry guys - another thought - what's the better location? I was offered deck 8 mid ship and deck 13 front? (I think I've always been mid-ship before? !)

I like forward about 5 cabins from the front. Nice and quite and not rough if sailing in the Caribbean.

I have sailed in all locations. Choose a deck with cabins above and below yours.

AAAARRRRGGGHHH! It's a minefield. Defo great advice to try other cruise companies though. Got a range of prices now- so can discount the larger ones. Getting closer though. Seems to be high decks they're offering though & I'm not so sure. But can always use that as a bargaining tool too
