Mobile Best thing about staying in a villa

As the title says 😊

We’ve booked a villa for next year which I’m really excited about trying as we are usually hotel people.

Why villa over hotel

Apologies for a list but as I’ve responded to this question a few times it’s a bit easier for me to summarise. Would like to clarify this list though by saying that we’re both 70+ and have visited over 35 times but haven’t been to a park since 2010. Also there’s only two of us in a 4 bed villa. Our needs and holiday plans are very unlikely to be typical of other Dibbers.

1. Park at your front door not a mile away
2. Lots of space to spread out
3. Own private pool within 20’ of lounge
4. Own spa to watch the sun rise and set
5. Pop back inside any time for drinks – hot or cold
6. Spare bedroom to store shopping
7. Spare bedroom for family occasionally joining us (after notifying owner obviously)
8. Choice of bathrooms if one engaged – including one on the pool deck
9. Eat meals and snacks whenever you like prepared in the full kitchen
10. Listen to your own music without offending fellow guests and neighbours.
11. Watch TV in the lounge or bedroom (s)
12. Watching the mockingbird attack the hawks on the pool screen
13. Separate walk in shower in the master bathroom plus a large tub
14. Ability to keep on top of the clothes washing

Best thing for us - SPACE...

everyone can have their own space, makes for relaxed, non-bickering holidays.

All of the above except we have never seen a mockingbird attack a hawk, but have seen lots of little lizzards running up and down the pool screen.

Peace and quiet too, we have never had immiedate neighbours in any of the villas we have stayed in.

One of the things DD17 remembers from our first villa trip (aged6) were the stick insects sunning themselves on the garage door (outside! ) -

she was absolutely fascinated to see stick insects "in the wild" she thought they were just a zoo thing...

That wasn't the main reason that we choose a villa but it was quite amusing watching. It may have been in one of our spring visits (nesting season ) and a small hawk perched itself on the corner of the pool screen. Along came a mockingbird (blackbird size) and kept flying straight at the hawk and wouldn't give up until the hawk flew off.

Nothing like having your own pool, swims in the morning, noon or night. Space not sharing bedrooms, having food and snacks. Wash as you go, pack a few things and wash and hang them in the utility room or tumble dry. Watching wildlife around the villa, my family watched England play football on tv while I swum in the pool. I wouldn’t do anything else in Florida now x

Ooh just remembered having lots of bathrooms, dd showers for half a hour! 🙄

Not having to tip toe about at night or in morning because children are asleep.

All of the above are excellent reasons. One of the main reasons for me is night swimming, I love the freedom of going into the pool whenever I want.
