Upgrading Kids to Adults DDP - how?

We're planning at staying at AKL with the DDP along with our 11 and 9 year old daughters.

How do we actually go about getting our 9 year old on the Adult Dining Plan? Do we phone up after we've booked (and pay an extra charges) or just put her age down as 11+ as well when we make the hotel booking online with Disney?

It is usually just the difference in price of adult and child ticket but it depends who and what you book

So direct with Disney, hotel and ticket package only with no flights in akl will be fine just the difference in ticket price

You are probably already aware that children don’t have to order kids meals at CS restaurants but they do at TS restaurants if on the dining plan. Given the quantity of food you get if my kids were those ages I wouldn’t be upgrading the 9 year old as there would be too much waste for my liking.

I would agree that we have ordered adult meals for our children before, would recommend just doing that unless they eat loads!

As above, just put the age of second child as 10 instead of 9. As long as you're not booking flights at the same time, they won't care about actual DOBs and such - especially since you're overpaying rather than trying to sneak in the lower bracket.

If you were staying at a moderate and upgrading to full DDP, you'd also have to pay the adult upgrade fee which looks like it'll be £17 per person per day this year. But since you're planning to stay at AKL, the only price difference at booking will be the ticket upgrade - usually around the £20 mark. Plus the tips on the increased meal price, as mentioned above.

Thanks all for the help. Was also thinking that we could just buy them a kids meal in the TS Restaurants and save their DDP Adult Credit for doubling up at Signatures.

This is exactly what we are doing
We have upgraded our 4 year old, we will buy him a kids meal when the menu is ok and he will eat it and he can also get an adult meal if he wants and share with his sister (nearly 2)

I think it's a great idea to upgrade children for the sake of £20 or so, to give you more flexibility with credits. You can still use adult TS credits to order child TS meals if that's what you want, but as you said, you can pay OOP for a (reasonably cheap) child's meal and have extra credits for signatures. That's certainly what I would do if mine were still under 10!
