Think the voucher must be only at MCO. I asked at Manchester on the way out (13th April) and they said there was no option for that.

It is for MCO only because virgin realise the offering there is nowhere near the UC benchmark and is often full.

I wouldn't bother with this as it takes time out of your last day.

There's no queuing up for UC check in at the airport so just take your bags and check them in there.

I don't think so, but as someone else has said there is never a queue for UC check in at the airport so even if you have dropped bags already you can go pick up at the desk

Yes you can. We often use DS and last time we flew UC (may16) they offered lounge or other voucher. We went for lounge which was ok but would have preferred outback.

There isn’t a queue at UC check in which from memory is the opposite wall to normal check in but we don’t like to have to go back and get our bags if at a park. But there were lots of VA staff about to direct you.

We are doing the same as OP and going UC for our first time but just on the return, so many useful tips, especially the voucher - thanks everyone!

The Upper Class check-in area at the airport is tucked away opposite the main Virgin check-in area. There is a sign in place, but there are also plenty of Virgin ground staff around if you're lost.

As to the lounge / food voucher, it's horses for courses. The Delta Sky Club is nothing special - a typical US "business" airport lounge. There is a limited food offering in the lounge (think cheese, crackers, nuts, crudities & soup and you're on the right track). There is a free bar with two beers, two white wines, two red wines and low-brand spirits for free, plus soft drinks obviously. If you want something more up-market, then there is a pay-menu for premium beers, wines & spirits. This lounge can often be quite full too - it can at times be quite hard to find somewhere to sit, particularly if you're in a group.

Disney Springs check-in tend to issue the lounge invite by default, unless you ask for the food vouchers. I guess if DS issued you the lounge invite you could stop by the Upper Class desk at the airport and exchange it for vouchers (as it's clear it's been unused as you're still landside).

As to the food - put it like this, a steak in Outback (freshly cooked to order) will smash any Upper Class food offering out of the water, if you don't mind eating a little earlier than you may choose to. We tend to have a big lunch at Mythos in Islands of Adventure on our last day, so often take the lounge pass and eat on the plane. Have done the food vouchers too - which don't have to be used on food, you can burn them up on cocktails in Outback if you like.

Thank you for all the information.

We've stopped using the Disney Springs check-in as we don't really gain much benefit from it. Both DW and I have chronic illnesses and both have lots of drugs and equipment in our carry-on rucksacks which are impractical to carry round a theme park and too important to leave in a locker. We tend to stay around the resort after check-out, especially the pool area, until driving to the airport.

I suspect we will choose the voucher rather than the lounge at the airport. A meal at Outback or Bahama Breeze beats a few free drinks and what appears to be nibbles.
