Thomas Cook Flights

Ok

Thomas Cook plus car hire Rav 4 or similar DIY
£2000. 2 adults 1 child May 2019 inc full insurances etc

Virgin
Fly drive same dates same car full insurance
£2287

So

I can save £200 which is money towards fuel.

Last time I flew with Virgin they were utter rubbish so I’m loath to give them my hard earned dose

Any opinions on Thomas Cook airlines they fly from LGW to MCO which is ideal

Virgin will be cheaper when you include costs for booking seats and the TC entertainment costs

Tinkerbell if it's booked through signature by Thomas cook then seats are included. I've flew long haul Thomas cook and every flight has been brilliant , from the captain updates to the stewardesses , to the seat ms and leg room

I hate to be the voice of doom but... we flew Thomas Cook last year. My words were 'never again'. I appreciate we were maybe just unlucky but the food was absolutely appalling, even for plane food. Rolls were rock solid and the meat was unidentifiable. The crew weren't great - the food was literally slapped down onto the tray and the one in our section didn't check the cabin for landing despite hearing her on the phone stating 'cabin check complete'. Had she done so, she might have noticed the young child in the row in front of us who was sitting on the floor! When I complained their customer service response was basically 'oh really' and that they wouldn't be refunding us for the food. Which was good since we hadn't asked for a refund as our meal was included! The food was a side issue, my concern was more about their lack of concern over a safety issue. Back to BA this time!

TC are our airline of choice now for transatlantic flights in Economy.
Our opininion is the seating is comfy, plenty space, and reasonable ( James Martin ) food on the way out. Food on the way back is poor but it’s the same for all airlines out of MCO. I think they all use the same caterer. IFE is adequate an a fiver upgrades it, but still not excellent, but I don’t judge the flight experience on the films I can watch.

On saying all that, we are flying TUI from GLA May 19 as TC don’t start GLA flights until June 19.

I've flown with both and was happy with both. Some things are better with Virgin e.g. free drinks and some are better with TC e.g. food (though I realise that is a matter of opinion). I would go with the cheapest myself.
Have a great holiday, whoever you decide to fly with.

We've never flown Virgin but used Thomas Cook for the 1st time last year and we're very impressed.
Food was enjoyable and although IFE isn't great it's certainly not a major issue.
Using TC again this year.
