Dollar V Alamo

Included in our package was car hire with Dollar. As we have used Alamo previously I asked to change. Travel Agent say it will be an additional £95. This is for a full size 4 door.

Any advice if this is worthwhile?

Also husband is down to drive as well as me but he only has a paper driving licence. Will this be a problem?

And anyone know how much holding fee on the credit card they take?

Thanks

Old paper driving licence as in pre 1998? If so, thats fine but you'll need to carry your passport around with you as proof of ID. Very expensive if you lose them so worth considering making the change to the photocard.

Holding Fee
Alamo = $1
Dollar = circa $250

If you're driving around Miami don't forget to factor in Dollar's very expensive tolling system at $52.49 per rental week vs Alamo's capped admin fee of $19.75 (plus tolls)

Make sure you get fully insured, many rental cars included in a package only come with 3rd party insurance. by the time you have added on insurance to their car it would be far cheaper to rent one independently.
