VH Cars, issue booking into Jan

Anybody ever had an issue with Virgin Holiday Cars when trying to book starting in Dec and ending in Jan. Trying 20/12 to 08/01 and tells me no availability. But if I start and end in dec or jan, it's fine. Same length of hire.

In total it's comping up €400 less (adding both together), if I could only book it

Ring them Pad. You wont be able to make the booking online anyhow as there site looks for a UK postcode. I rang them got a lovely woman who knew exactly what she was at and made my booking for me. She was actually in a Virgin shop in Wales. The call centre was busy and the overflow was diverted to her. I have her email address if your stuck just pm me.

Thanks a mill Ashling, I'll try that.

Alamo are quoting €1362 for my dates. Did find some other site for €1185, but Virgin are quoting about €780. That's certainly worth a phone call

I can get others cheaper than Alamo, but likely not at that price and I do like Alamo skip the counter and pick your car

OP. I just did a check for you but I use VA not VH.
The 31st Dec is the sticking point and they dont have cars available to go out on that date.
So you can pick up and drop off in Dec and pick up and drop off in Jan but not for the latter pick up on the 31st Dec. That stops you having 2 x rentals and swapping the car out.
Alamo Brits is expensive for Dec but cheap for Jan.

I would personally do 2 x rentals. Use Virgin for the Dec part and drop off at the Car Care Centre in WDW, then immediately take out another car but with Alamo Brits.
Plus if the car from the VA rental suits you the staff will let you keep it anyhow albeit I wouldn't as a new hire gets you a fresh tank of gas!

Thanks for the investigative work Mr Tom

Makes sense as to why, but still seems a bit strange. I'll do some more digging on the pricing and thanks for the tip of the Car Centre in WDW. Would also allow me to get a bigger SUV for the latter part of the holiday too where we have more travelling and also all the extra luggage the DW & DD will have accumulated

Ok, so I rang VH tonight and they managed to get the booking through fine. Standard SUV 20/12 to 8/1 for £627, about €715. A saving of €640 from the Alamo site and €370 from the next nearest equivalent that I had found (Avis). Happy days. Almost totally covers DC Ultimates (incl SW and Busch) for us all.
