Cheap pashmina style scarves are best, as thinner and can be worn. I use them to ward off drafts, or for privacy, or rolled as a pillow.

What on earth are you doing on a plane seat surrounded by strangers that would need privacy?

Haha that sounded weird! Nothing dodgy I promise.

Just when I’m sleeping I don’t want to be caught snoring and slack-jawed LOL. If I’m wearing a hoody I pull the hood up an cover my face a bit, if not I use a scarf.

Don't think we've ever used a blanket and would never take one. Like others have said what about a fleece or pashmina style scarff ?

We don’t use the blankets. They are vile. Personally I would just wear a cardigan or fleece etc, the blankets sound like too much hassle.

Reading this I'm surprised people take their own blanket, seemed a little bizarre, but each to their own.

Assumed it would be a jumper, hoody or cardigan.

It was mainly for the children on the way home, as it will be October we will be wearing layered clothing, fleece etc and I did consider a Pashmina for myself. I had read about someone who paid £5 for their blanket on the outbound flight and reused it inbound so was hoping they would have the answer.

Is the hassle of carting blankets to and from the states and 'wearing' them onto the plane really worth £5 ?

As it's October, just wear a hoody each onto the plane and use that instead?
