HELP: flying to Tampa via NYC

Hi all,

quick question, we can get good flight times and prices flying from Edinburgh to NYC to Tampa compared to BA via London and can save around £300 in car hire costs compared to MCO.

Does anyone know if we'll clear immigration at NYC if we make the connection there?

it doesn't really affect the decision but would be useful to know if immigration will be sorted prior to Tampa.

Also, is a 2 hour layover enough time at JFK?

Yes, you will clear immigration and customs in New York. As to the connection time, it really depends on the immigration wait. Which airline(s) and airport?

I’d assume Delta and T4. Yes, you’ll be fine with two hours. If you’re running late, look out for a sign called Quick Connect.

Thanks both.

it was Delta and T4.

we've since found a £400 cheaper option via Gatwick to MCO from Edinburgh with BA so we've booked up.

£1700 for 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby - works out well.

Yes we are doing LHR-New York-Tampa in the summer. We have 4 hrs in NY between flights but that's fine as clear immigration and recheck baggage, get some food and get to the gate. Arrive Tampa as domestic so straight off the plane on arrival to bag collection and car hire.
