Hotels nr but not in London

Looking at a night in London with my boy and Hubby as he'll be working down there but Central London prices are around £300 (no thanks)
So as we get free train travel don't mind staying in maybe Luton or St Albans etc... so wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel nr a train station where we could hop on abd off the train into London.
Thanks

We’ve stopped many times at the Premier Inn Borehamwood which isn’t far from St Albans..

Village Inn Elstree is also nice and not too far from St Albans

We stopped at the holiday inn express in Stevenage when we went to the 2012 olympics, it is a 5 minute walk to the train station and there is regular trains to kings cross they take around 25 minutes.

Premier Inn Harrow - on Bakerloo line to Baker Street / Oxford Circus / Piccadilly Circus or London Overground to Euston.

Premier Inn Wembley Park - Metropolitan Line to Baker Street

Holiday Inn Brent Cross - Northern line (10 minute walk) to Euston / Kings Cross /Tottenham Court Road / Leicester Square

I appreciate the Underground will not be covered by your free train travel

We’ve stayed at premier inn Wembley Park many times. It’s smack bang next to the tube station.

Watford's a good base. There's a good Jury's five mins walk from Watford Junction and the journey into Euston is around 22 mins on Virgin trains.

There is also a Holiday Inn right across the road from Watford Junction train station.

Why not look at a hotel a little further out (e.g. Zone 2) - I was in London for almost a week earlier this year, and booked a rather nice hotel in Zone 2 for a very decent price, think it worked out around £80 a night or thereabouts. Was very easy to get into central London via the tube! Alternatively there are some aparthotels like Citadines which may have cheaper prices - somewhere like Expedia or booking.com will bring up an easy price comparison.

I'd second the Premier Inn at Harrow. We had 4 nights there during a trip to London and thought it was great
